i <br /> 3 <br /> Capital Improvement Program Committee <br /> Minutes _ <br /> February 2,2012 <br /> Recreation Department—South Cape Beach Weather Resistant Storae Building-. <br /> Catherine Laurent,the Director of Public Works.and Heidi McLaughlin of the <br /> Recreation Department discussed the request of the Recreation Department to <br /> support CIP finding for the construction of a 14' x 8' weather resistant storage <br /> building at South Cape Beach for staff`and the storage of equipment: <br /> The proposed storage building would contain a small tolling door to <br /> accommodatewheelchairs',tables and surf boards. Construction would also <br /> include a small arcing to allow for sun protection. <br /> With regards to permiab and envirorffnental mandates, Ms. Laurent indicated <br /> the land is subject to a coastal flood and local permitting is required. It was noted <br /> the footing of building would be constructed on the asphalt parking lot, using <br /> approximately two parking spaces. <br /> Ita.s agreed the Cape Cod Technical School and Sheriff s fepartrnent would be <br /> consulted regarding in-gratis services. <br /> It was noted that a future multiLuse building is planned for South Cape Beach in <br /> fiscal year 2017 under the capital program. <br /> Discussion followed with respect to the budget and the availability of funding to <br /> construct the small storage-building prior to the onset of the 2012 beach season. <br /> If the project is approved by the voters at the May 2012 Town Meeting, funds <br /> would not be readily available until July 1, 2012. <br /> It vas'agreed the Recreation Director would be consulted regarding the use of the <br /> department's RevolvingFund to construct the storage building this spring. <br /> PlanningConstruction uction Various_Rroje t <br /> At the last meeting,the CIP Committee prioritized severalprojects supported by <br /> the Planning & Construction Committee. Of particular importance was the <br /> upgrade of electrical service and outlets in46 classrooms at the Quashnet School. <br /> For safety purposes,there is a need to modernize the building. The coni tment <br /> to the CIP program is$25,000 per year for a gree-year period. The project is also <br /> recommended by the Town Buildings Needs Assessment study. <br /> DPW: <br /> The Director of Public Works prioritized the tractor/mower and dump truck <br /> addition to the replacement,of a F350 pickup truck in fiscal year 2013. <br />
