The Director attended the.ceremony where two senior related awards were given. One for <br /> the individual went to Peter Squeglia and for organizations went to the CAPERS. Our <br /> congratulations to both these worthy awardees. <br /> INTERVIEW <br /> An interview for a position on the Council on Aging is scheduled for gam during our <br /> meeting. <br /> CAPERS LUNCHEON <br /> The director, outreach coordinator and principal clerk attended the CAPERS luncheon on <br /> Friday, December 5th. <br /> LIGHTING <br /> Work was completed on some electrical issues in Ro ms o 1-01 a. Request for electrical <br /> } outlets in the Lounge is being studied. <br /> STAFF LUNCHEON <br /> The Luncheon is planned for Tuesday, December 16, 2008. <br /> VAIN <br /> "'DONATIONS ACCEPTEI " sign was placed on the van, In January a sign indicating <br /> the suggested donation will be placed o n the van. <br /> OUTREACH COORDINATOR'S REPORT: <br /> HIE VISITS/APPOINTMENTS <br /> Twenty-five were made this past month. <br /> Per the request of the Director of the 1lashpee Housing Authority, I made a home visit to <br /> a senior in his sixties who recently discharged himselfagainst medical advice from <br /> local rehabilitation facility. He suffered a major strokd a few months ago, and has <br /> difficulty speaking and is unable to wally he uses a wheelchair). I made a referral to both <br /> the V1A and Elder Services, requesting occupational therapy, Physical therapy, speech <br /> therapy, a lifeline, homemaker, meal on wheels etc. <br /> VOLUNTEERS, <br /> Outreach interviewed three new volunteers, who will be assisting with transportation, <br /> decorating, front desk, and newsletter. <br /> Outreach met with one of our volunteers, who has agreed to assist v ith the phone calling <br /> to diose seniors who have recently suffered the lost of a spouse, relative, or friend. I <br /> began the training process, and expect to meet with her at least one more time before she <br /> begins calling, <br />
