MASHPEE COUNCIL.ON AGING MINUTES MARCH 17, 2010 - <br /> Present: Jack Dorsey, Arthur Eisenberg, Irving Goldberg, Jack Jordan, Mari j Gorney, Virginia <br /> McIntyre, Jeanne Noussee, Jim Long, Lynne Waterman. <br /> New v members: Norah McCormick, Peter Squeglia. <br /> The meeting opened at 8:30 ATI in the Board Room of the 1lashpee Senior Center. <br /> SECRETARY'S REPORT: The Minutes of January 13, 2 0 10 were moved by Irving, seconded <br /> by Jeanne. Unanimous. <br /> TREASURER"S REPORT: Jim Long circulated the up-to-date expenditure report. We are-on <br /> target, an improvement from last year, due to the formula gram. We are building up a revolving <br /> account. We lease the new van which cost $54,000. W pay maintenance and the driver. <br /> .Perhaps we will have volunteer drivers at some Ipoint. <br /> DIRECTOR'S REPORT: <br /> Meetings: The Director attended the following meetings over the past two months: Upper Cape <br /> Consortium, Cape COAs, Hunan Services Committee, Town Department Heads, Barnstable <br /> County Human Service, Upper Cape CA Directors, Project Mope, Chef John, etc. <br /> Operating Budget: Budget recommendations were submitted and appear to have been forwarded <br /> through the Finance Committee to Selectmen. <br /> Formula Grant: Gov. Patrick continues to recommend $7.00 per senior in the 2011 budget. <br /> i <br /> Criminal Systems History Burd; After a few glitches, our application for approval as a LORI <br /> agency was approved for a two-year period. Jim and Lynne will need to go up to Boston as a <br /> preliminary. Approximately 250 of our volunteers and employees go through this security cheek <br /> process. <br /> AARP Tax Program: We have two individuals doing tax preparation in this program and most <br /> slots are already spoken for through April 15 1h. Approximately 165 seniors use this service t <br /> process their tax returns. <br /> Academy ofLifelong Learning: We are looking at this program which seems to have lost some <br /> momentum and looking ing at ways to expand our offerings, as we are the only location serving this <br /> market on the Upper Cape. We will keep you informed. If someone wishes to help with this, let <br /> Jim know. <br /> ESCCI: Susan Clegg, a registered nurse, has net with the Director at Elder Services and will be <br /> nominated to serve on the ESCCI Board as i lashpee representative. <br /> Computer Classes: We are currently in the planning stages for classes which may resume in <br /> June. Anne Aristide is assessing the demand. <br />
