Lynne attended the Valentine's luncheon for seniors at Ilashpee High School, an <br /> enjoyable inter-generational program. Lynne met with the new visiting nurse Janelle Gason, and <br /> the new Asher's Path Residents Coordinator Gina Orlando, to discuss hove we can work together <br /> for the benefit of our shared clients. We had a sign up table at our Open House 1n January hoping to interest some <br /> new volunteers, Shirley Conrad was at our front desk for the afternoon to provide information <br /> about the Senior Center. Two people expressed an interest in volunteering, and Judith met with <br /> them in February. we continue to have a study influx of people interested in volunteering. <br /> Three people were interested in the SHINE program and were referred to then, Elder Services is <br /> advertising in our March Newsletter for volunteers for an upcoming training. Our interested <br /> volunteers were given the information. Among the new volunteers are five new drivers which <br /> greatly enhances our ability to respond to requests and takes some of the pressure off our `old <br /> faithful' drivers. <br /> Ilashpee Food Pantry. Judith met with Linda Carroll of the Mashpee Food Pantry. She intends <br /> to start a `Seniors Only' day in which she would feature items frequently sought by seniors i.e. <br /> low sodium items, small quantities, lots of fresh produce, etc,) we composed an ad for our <br /> March Newsletter asking for volunteers for that clay, <br /> Intergenerational: Beth Wunder, volunteer Coordinator for the lahpee Schools, seat <br /> information about their plans for `Music in our Schools' month. A concert will be held on <br /> March 10, and people who sing or play an instrument are invited to-participate with the <br /> students. An article was placed in our Newsletter, and the Singing Seniors were invited. <br /> Volunteer Recognition: Judith is beginning to think about and plan for our yearly volunteer <br /> recognition event. Our volunteer list is being updated, and we are starting to think about what <br /> type of evert we want for this year. <br /> OTHER <br /> Jim asked-the Committee for input regarding the volunteer Recognition{event which costs <br /> approximately $2,700 to put on. We have been doing this event for the past 13 years, Jeanne <br /> Noussee moved to continue the went, Irving seconded. Unanimous. <br /> Jim distributed an Article from the Boston dobe on Baby Boomers aging en mass and the need <br /> for senior services. An Article in The Beacon expresses concern with the cost shift of adding <br />
