DIRECTORS REPORT <br /> August-2010 <br /> MEETINGS <br /> The Director attended the following meetings over the past two month: Upper Cape <br /> Consortium, Cape COA's, Town Department Head, Barnstable County Human Service, <br /> Upper Cape COA Directors, CAPECOast, CIRCA, MCOA Statewide Meeting, Hoarding <br /> Taskforce, and Service center Committee, etc. <br /> i <br /> SERVICE CENTER COMM ITTEE <br /> The Service Center Committee to investigate the need for a town operated Service Center <br /> similar to that of Falmouth has been discontinued. <br /> HUMAN SERVICE COMMITTEE <br /> The director was re-appointed as the Vice-Chair of the town's Human Service <br /> Committee. <br /> OPERATING BUDGET 1 <br /> An YTD report was provided during the Treasurer's Report. <br /> FORMULA.GRANT <br /> Governor Patrick approved $7.00 per senior in the 2011 budget. Again, we do not have <br /> any formal correspondence from the state that formula grant funds are available. <br /> Therefore expenditures against the Formula Grant are on hold until further notice. <br /> Several requests have been made by my office for the official correspondence. <br /> COMPUTER CLASSES <br /> We are seeking seniors knowledgeable in Twitter or Face book to assist in the office <br /> and/or teach classes on the subject to our clientele. <br /> GARDENING GROUP <br /> The group is sponsoring a small luncheon for Senior Center staff on September 16; they <br /> hope to have it on the rear patio. <br /> SENIOR CENTER MONTH 1 <br /> We assigned Maria Sullivan the task of scheduling festivities for Senior Center month. <br /> Kick-off was Friday, September 3". with Coffee and Doughnuts. Other celebrations will <br /> occur during this month including a free concert on September 24 featuring"The Singing <br /> Psychotherapist". Our thanks to Maria for leading this effort to honor the job senior <br /> centers contribute. <br /> CAPE CONSORTIUM <br /> The director has assumed the chair of this group which was an outgrowth of the Upper <br /> Cape Consortium. Currently the group is the recipient of a$30,000.00 grant from the <br /> Mass Suicide Prevention Group for cape-wide activities in this area. An educational <br />
