4 Community Preservation Committee Mm* utes April 25, 2006 Leila Botsford—Mashpee Housing Author*t : Breezy Acres EU anston ro'ect: (continued) The 2 duplex units are proposed as follows; 2 to-bedroom units, 1 two-bedroom unit and 1 three-bedroom unit. One two-bedroom unit would be handicap accessible. It was noted the wait list has been closed as a result of the long wait fist for housing. It is estimated that 150 families are on the wart list at this time. Many reside and work in the Town of Mashpee. The new units as proposed to be constructed would be offered first preference to residents of the Torn of Mashpee and to veterans. The units are not for sMngle persons. Letters of support are included in the project application. The project as defined would create needed rental housing and utilize currently owned property. The project has been designated for affordable housing by the Town and its Affordable Dousing&Planned Production Plan. It was disclosed there is no funding available for development through DFICD or ITUI : Presently, the DHC 'is funding pre-development costs, conceptual designs and surveys only. There has been no development funding since 1991. Upon receipt of f .nds, it is hopeful the expansion project would be completed in two years. If the project is considered by the committee, a timeline firmRation would be placed on the expansion project. Discussion followed with respect to the wastewater treatment facility located at the Ma hpee High School. The option will be reviewed with the facilities manager and discussed at the next meeting. The income generated from the existing Trental units support a part-tine; 18 hour per week maintenance person. income from the newly proposed units would allow for additional maintenance staffing hours. The project is estimated to cost$950,000. The CPA funding request is 00,000. The Housing Authority anticipates that additional funding would derive from County HOME funds to support project completion. The issue of renewable and solar energy was considered.
