4 <br /> Community Preservation Committee <br /> Mm* utes <br /> April 25, 2006 <br /> Leila Botsford—Mashpee Housing Author*t : Breezy Acres EU anston <br /> ro'ect: (continued) <br /> The 2 duplex units are proposed as follows; 2 to-bedroom units, 1 <br /> two-bedroom unit and 1 three-bedroom unit. One two-bedroom unit <br /> would be handicap accessible. <br /> It was noted the wait list has been closed as a result of the long wait fist <br /> for housing. It is estimated that 150 families are on the wart list at this <br /> time. Many reside and work in the Town of Mashpee. The new units as <br /> proposed to be constructed would be offered first preference to residents <br /> of the Torn of Mashpee and to veterans. The units are not for sMngle <br /> persons. <br /> Letters of support are included in the project application. The project as <br /> defined would create needed rental housing and utilize currently owned <br /> property. The project has been designated for affordable housing by the <br /> Town and its Affordable Dousing&Planned Production Plan. <br /> It was disclosed there is no funding available for development through <br /> DFICD or ITUI : Presently, the DHC 'is funding pre-development costs, <br /> conceptual designs and surveys only. There has been no development <br /> funding since 1991. <br /> Upon receipt of f .nds, it is hopeful the expansion project would be <br /> completed in two years. If the project is considered by the committee, a <br /> timeline firmRation would be placed on the expansion project. <br /> Discussion followed with respect to the wastewater treatment facility <br /> located at the Ma hpee High School. The option will be reviewed with the <br /> facilities manager and discussed at the next meeting. <br /> The income generated from the existing Trental units support a part-tine; <br /> 18 hour per week maintenance person. income from the newly proposed <br /> units would allow for additional maintenance staffing hours. <br /> The project is estimated to cost$950,000. The CPA funding request is <br /> 00,000. The Housing Authority anticipates that additional funding <br /> would derive from County HOME funds to support project completion. <br /> The issue of renewable and solar energy was considered. <br />
