We look also forward to a submission by The Community Builders of an application for Community Reinvestment Act Funds to the Town's Community Preservati.on Board this spring. Along with the rest of the state, both Mashpee and the Cape have experienced significant appreciation in housing values. This has exacerbated the housing shortage in the area and as a result, housing options are severely limited for households such as those be'in'g served by Mashpee village. As you may be aware,Mashpee Village has been the Town of Mash ee's foremost affordable housing resource since.it was first developed in 1975. With 145 units of housing for low-income households, it is critical that this community receive the resources necessary to preserve it as safe, decent housing for the families of Mashpee and the Cape for years to come. We understand that, in order to work within the current financing constraints,on the development, The Community Builders' plan contemplates that the property will be fully rehabilitated in nvo stages, to be undertaken.over the next several gears. We will work with them in the months and years to come to determine whether the property could benefit from a potential new town sewer system. We hope that you will join us in pror of-ing innovative approaches toward the preservation of communities such as Mashpee Village, and support The Community Builders' proposal.
