2 <br /> Comrnurdty Preservation Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> March 24, 2008 <br /> Present: Wayne Taylor, Diane Rommelmeyer(via conference call), <br /> Richard-Halpern, Evelyn Buschenfeldt, Ralph Shaw, Paula Peters <br /> Absent: Ed Larkin, Beverly Kane., Gus Freericl <br /> Meetmng Called to Order by Chairman Taylor at 9:12 a.m. <br /> Town lull, Conference Room#2 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Santuit Pond Land: <br /> The Town Manager was in attendance to discuss the status of the Santuit <br /> Pond Preserve,propel purchased through the Land Bim. As a result of <br /> the present condition of the failing dam, the state has mandated that <br /> two-phase engineering study be conducted as the dam is deemed an <br /> int rmediate size significant hazard potential. <br /> The first phase of the engineering study to be performed by Weston& <br /> Sampson is projected to dost$1900. Based upon the engineering plans <br /> completed in phase one, costs associated to the next phase would be <br /> determined. The projected maximum cost at this time is $40,000. The <br /> cost of phase 11 shall be divided with the Town of Barnstable. It was <br /> noted the Town of Bamstable has funded the repair of the second dam, a , <br /> cost of$2000. Therefore,the Town of Mashpee would solely contribute <br /> funds to complete tasks 1 —3 of phase 1. <br /> - t ' <br /> 1t was noted that CPA funds can be earmarked for the needed repair. 'The <br /> project is not a maintenance matter. Funds would derive from the <br /> administrative and operating expense of the CPA budget.
