Community Preservation Committee Minutes January 4, 2011 Review&Aproval of CPA Pro* ect for Mqy 2011 Special Town Meet n Pickerel Cove Recreation Area: Andrew McManus, Conservation Agent was in attendance with Catherffie Laurent, Director of Public Worts to update the CPC. Committee on the CPA project to ire-create a 2 acre field, improve access and establish an enlarged secondary parking area. The subject site location is the former St. Vincent's property, land purchased by the Town of Mashpee, and Community Preservation Committee with the assistance of the Division of Fisheries and Wildlife for open space and passive recreation purposes in May of 2008. At the Committee's request, Mr. McManus re-configured the 5- -space secondary parking area to accommodate a total of 20 parking spaces. The revised budget to improve access and enlarge the secondary parking area i $18,945. The re-creation of the two acre.Feld which includes stump removal, additional topsoil, re-grading and re-vegetation is anticipated to cost$36,520. The total project cost is $63,925. The CPA funding request is $55,,465. It was noted the new parking area is close to the water and launch facility- for the canoes and kayaks. The distance of the parking to the water i approximately 200-300'. Due to the topography of the area, a drop-off area is not feasible: However, it was noted that a seasonal floating dock is permissible and is intended to be installed at the site location, and a permanent stairway will be constructed with a railing for safety purposes. Motion made by Mr. O'Hara to approve and recommend for the May 2011 Special Town Meeting,the CPA Application for impro ement to the Pickerel Cove Recreation Area in the amount of$55,465. Funding for the CPA project under the Recreation category would derive from the Budgeted Reserve of the Community Preservation Committee. Motion seconded by Mr, Shaw. VOTE: Unanimous. 7-0.
