jr <br /> 5 <br /> Mashpee Cultural C ouncil meeting 1 1 02 9.1 o a.m. at 1 lashpee Senior Center <br /> 'resent: Jim Long, Joan Brown, Maureen Rounds, Sunny Merritt, Lola McCray and <br /> Helene DeFoe <br /> Approval of minutes from 4/25/02- Lola asked that location of the meeting be added to <br /> nunutes (Senior Center). Motion made by Maureen and seconded by Sunny. The minutes <br /> were approved as amended. <br /> Jim announced that l ashpee would receive $2,000, down from $3,300. Jing presented <br /> recapped of the budget cuts the MCC has taken. MCC staff has been cut and no specific <br /> person is assigned to the Cape. Lisa Hrgenrother has left the agency in anticipation of <br /> the cuts. BICC is not sending out mailings as they had in the past and information is <br /> being posted on their website. Jinn and Joan mentioned some access problems with the <br /> website including a virus that Joan received from the website. <br /> Jim passed along some recent warrant forms for processed payments to Joan for her <br /> records. There was discussion on whether or not Roger T1eknell had been paid for his <br /> performance at the library. Jinn will cheek to see if payment has been made_ The Boys <br /> and Girls Club has received payment for arts and crafts supplies purchased with their <br /> grant. Jinn had not received any paperwork from Anti-Gras for payment. <br /> According to Joan's records, $2,174.95 has been paid out for 2001 grants. Joan will <br /> receive paid warrant forms in future as treasurer. <br /> An election of officers was held for 0 -2003 term: <br /> Chair Ann whitlow was nominated by Surety and seconded by Maureen <br /> Secretary/Helene DeFoe was nominated by Sunny and seconded by Joan <br /> Treasurer/Joan Brown was nominated by Sunny arra seconded by Lola.. <br /> The committee proceeded to elect the slate. <br /> Jinn opened a discussion of the impact f state budget cuts on the amounts town received <br /> for MCC grants. He presented some ideas discussed at a meeting of chairs of Cape <br /> Cultural Councils, which was held in Brewster several weeks ago. Some chairs talked <br /> about doing fundraisers to make up some of the cuts. He had a letter from MASH, <br /> which proposed hiring a lobbyist to work towards restoring some funding. The letter said <br /> local councils could join the groin for a$20 membership. Maureen made a motion to <br /> take $20 from the 1 la tepee Cultural Council line item to Join 1 A SH. Motion was <br /> seconded by Sunny and approved by the group. <br /> The committee began discussion on receiving applications for the upconfing gram cycle. <br /> Joan will check with Town Hall for submitted applications. Maureen and Lola will do a <br /> preliminary review to see that applications were qualified. Joan pointed out some <br /> applications were handwritten last year even though the form says they must be typed. <br /> i <br />
