Conservation Commission
Larch 18, 1993
'age 5.
: o DOMMC FRANM, 140 Popponesset Island Road, Continued 'from February I , 1993.
Mr Franchi, if you don't mind, I would like to make some introductory
comnents so we can dispense with some of the items you and I took care of the
other day. we had sent the letter to fir. Franchi's consultant indicating some
things that were missing. Among thea were a plan on a suitable scale, the res
of Sanford Ecological Services expert, some minor but required things like Permission
to access the property form and attestation of ownership fora. All those things have
been taken care of by Mr. ranchi; he brought all those things in the other day. In
addition, we have raised the question about a utility service that out through the
bank and went to the dock. I gent out to look at it the other day, Mr. Franchi,
and from looking at it under the dock, I agree it has been there for some time,
so that's not an issue.
FRANCIS-, No, I ars telling the truth
S : well, we have people who don't tell us the truth, so I have to check.
I think the big issue that remains is there is some pruning of some roots but we
have a letter from a certified arborist testifying to the ..8 * N * , was it Jerry
Cannon? ,Jerry has done work for us before and I. am confident ifJerry recommends
i t, it is sound. I think the one re in i g question for us is the lawn and Mr.
'ranchi was going to bring in plans showing with magic marker the extent of the
lawn he wishes to put in. I would like to see the old file, if itis handy.
FRAC [: want me to explain?
=AN: First explain whore you intend to put the new lawn.,
Right now the existing lawn is there, as you see, from here all the way
around, in here, as far as hero pointing to the plan).
Ste : And all the way to the top of the bank. . * .(FRANCS: This is existing
i lawn), but you wish to go with the new lawn. . F ANCB: No, it's still there).
Yes. . . ANCI- : This existed), what I'm asking is, you want to put some new
sod down right?? (FRANCHI: `
Yes Is that new sod gong to go all the way to
the top of the revetment here?
FRA=• Yes
Okay, that'-s your intent.
To replace the grass that's now I want to replace with new sod, the
sane as the sod,
SHERMAN: Ile have in the last few years 'had a quite a bit of evidence that Popp-
onesset Bay is suffering from overdoses of nitrogen and we have some concerns
about the sod lawn because as I recall, and I don't know exactly where I read it,
