r
Conservation Commission
November 18, 199
Page 8.
Mr. Sherman did not think the Commission should be put in the position of holding
public hearing every time a decision is made of what is in the best interest of
the performance standards. Some of the studies referred to by Dr. Gordon were done
by the industry itself; the final word is not out. He stated he will talk t
Duncan York about- this also. He dad not feel the Commission should be faulted
for what it tried to do, which was to protect the public's interests.
Mr. Homeyer advised he talked with Pain. Somerville about this. Rick York had
made all these proposals to the Shellfish Warden on Cape which they rejected.
Dr, Druce Tripp, a biologist at woods dole, stated CCA leaching is so neglig-.ble
as to -not be a problem at all. CCA sawdust is a different story.
Mrs. Ferriday suggested he go to the Shellfish Commission with his comments.
Mr. Sherman stated mailing of the letter can be postponed by two weeks.
Dr. Gordon requested to pout in the pilings with CCA as requested; he is still
waiting on his state application.
Mr. Sherman stated he could request an Amended order of Conditions; Dr. Gordon
stated he did that one month ago in person. x
Mr. Homeyer proposed that the commission rescind the CCA policy.
Mrs. Fudala stated she would like to take this up again in two weeks after hearing
the reports from Dr. Gordon. Mrs. Ferriday agreed.
Mr. Johansen asked if Dr. Tripp would put his comments in writing? Nor. Homeyer
advised Dr. Tripp would be willing to come here personally.
Vim: Motion made and seconded to continue this discussion at the next
Conservation meeting. The Agent will contact Duncan York in the
meantime.
Asst. Conservation Agent: The Agent advised he has anode same strides towards a
,t
job description for the Assistant.. There are not many towns on the Cape that
have a full-tine agent. There is not much to o on. A job description would
be virtually the same a his, except to assist the Agent and Commission.
Mrs. Fudala stated it would have a better chance if part-time.
Mr. Homeyer stated overseeing the cranberry bogs should be eliminated from the
Agent-'s job description. -vir. Sherriar_ advised he st coordinates with the
cranberry bog attendant.
met Preparation: The Agent advised the income from the- bogs ig for the
Commission's use. An article will be necessary,
Mrs. Ferriday stated a letter should be seat to the Executive Secretary that
i the money from the bogs is not a gift; It is owed to the Cop.Mssion.
VM: Motion made and seconded to Have the Agent talk to the Executive Secretary
and Town Accountant re the bog receipts.
Associate leer: Richard Rhodes was appointed an Associate Member by the
Selectmen. He has yet to be sworn in.
