Conservation Commission
* April. 9, 1992
Page 10.
Mir, Desrosiers asked how the float is removed and where it was stored
Mr. Costa advised once the boat ramp is out., it is stored at Little River Boat
Yard.
Mr. Forns provided two photos of the site, with dates. He conducted a study in
March of last year, The site plan they are working with is the same as in the
photograph. He has done a resource assessment. The plan shows various areas
and how broken down.
He has looked at water quality within standards, taken sediment analyses and
they have met category one. He conducted a shellfish investigation (distances
from shore) in 9190 and 3/91. There are clams 2 - 3 per square meter. Based
on his study, habitat 'is suitable for clams but there is not a sustainable
yield. They are not getting the right kind of plankton.
Mrs. Simmons stated eel grass beds should be noted on the plan. Mr. Forns
agreed.
Mr. Forns stated when he observed it, the pier did not appear to have any
-mpac ; he did not see any intrusion or scouring.
Mrs. Simmons asked for the vessels and their draft' and the depth of the
propulsion units.
Mr. Forns stated the maxtmim draft is 2. .
Mr. Costa stated they can get a urge in over there and the preferred war is
to drive the piles. The salt marsh is very narrow in the area.
Mr. Homerer asked if a urge would create a problem with the bottom?
Mr. Costa advised it would only to there for an hour. Mr. Homerer was thinking
of the scouring it would cause.
Mr. Costa requested a list of questions concerning the Commission. He was not
sure there are eel grass beds with loo feet,
. Desrosiers asked the pier elevation and was told the proposed pier will be
higher.
Mr. Homerer asked how they will dispose of the one that exists? Mr. Costa stated
it will come out easily. They can hook it on and pull it out by urge.
Public comments were requested; there were none.
C JU M 49 1992 -- 8:15
The 9:15 hearing was reopened with Frank Home er sitti
