Conservation Comnussion
June 27, 1991
Page 2.
Mr. Coffey stated they have addressed all of the specifics and asked if they
could explain how or why this will not destabilize the bank?
Mr. McGrath advised the material is stratified layers of sand. The angle of
repose will be 1-1 to 1. They will excavate down 4-1 feet and back 7 feet
at the most. There is an intervening layer of material that is here and as
long as the construction eqLdpment does not travel over it,, he believes the
material will stay. Excavation for short periods of time is possible at
steeper than 1-1 to 1. The angle that the soils would seek to become
stable would go back 7 feet, but he believes it will stack up better on the
short term. with a 10 year storm it would erode back to 7 feet. In that storms
there would be some silting. Mitigating measures for such a storm event would
e to lay plastic over so rain water would not hit directly.
Mr. Coffey asked if the pool company would not mind doing this?
Mr. McGrath felt it would be a suitable condition that during construction of
the pool a- layer of heavy plastic be.kept on site -and -placed over the pool ex
cavation in case of a rain storm.
Public comments were called for and there were none.
Mrs. Simmons asked if the revetment will be finished prior to the work on the
pool? Mr. McGrath advised that has been appealed. They will start work o
the pool before the revetment is in,
Mr. Sherman was concerned with the southeast corner, He referred to another
filing where the Mate came forth with some innovative drain type system for
a pool that could be incorporated, if petted. Dearing could be closed and
this added to the order of Conditions. A drainage system of 4" PVC pipe,
centered in a trench consisting of 3/4" washed stone was suggested,
Mr. McGrath stated that would apply if a constrai
