SHPEE CONSERVATION COMMISSION EMERGENCY iEET I - JANUARY 1 , 1990 Commissioners Present: Gertrude Simmons, Il. Louise Behrman, Joseph Burns, Patrick Coffey, harry Des ros i ers, Richard Halperry. Robert Sherman and Dan Homeyer were present also. There was discussion of a letter in the Falmouth Enterprise by Michael Grotzke f New Seabury corp. It was noted there was misinformation concerning test reports and the cutting of lawns. A response is to be drafted for review. Copy of a letter to Selectman Gottlieb was read re land owned by Mash pee Pod Gun Club and the town' s ',right of first refusal . After discussion, VOTE: Motion rade and seconded to respond to the Selectmen that the Commission recommends, with a portion of the land corpin back to the Tern and as the purchase would be a financial burden, that the option be refused. There will be a workshop at CGCG on February 9 and 10 having to do with Earth Day. The Chairman displayed ars Earth Flag and suggested the commission donate one to the school . Bob Gray is to be contacted re Vernal Pool Program. The Chairman suggested second, third and fourth grade students, as a science thrust. Applications for membership were reviewed for recommendation to the Selectman for their scheduled appointment on Monday, January � of the remaining full voting member and associate member. The Chairman advised Philip Kingsley asked. to have h i s name withdrawn due to illness. Mr. York has advised the Chairman that if not appointed full member, he would be i ntere ted in the associate membership. Mr. Homeyer stated he would be also. It was noted the other three candidates have not attended any meetings and have not contacted the Commission., The Mashpee River Woodlands Committee stated they would be delighted to have any one of the applicants on their board, John' s Pend Parc Committee is also in creed of members. Mr. Coffey advised Mr. York attended the Sarakurm i t on-site last Saturday. He was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. 1r. Homeyer asked if experts in the field were a cost to the Commission and was informed that they are, unless special arrangements are possible with the applicant. He advised his job requires a lot of overtime, especially during the summer and suggested Nor. York would be a better candidate due to availability, He was thanked for his honesty and invited to attend on-sites and workshops when possible. VOTE: Motion made and seconded to recommend that Duncan York be appointed Associate member and Dan Homeyer be invited to join the Commission as a non-voting associate member. Richard Halpern abstained.
