SHPEE CONSERVATION COMMISSION <br /> EMERGENCY iEET I - JANUARY 1 , 1990 <br /> Commissioners Present: Gertrude Simmons, Il. Louise Behrman, Joseph Burns, <br /> Patrick Coffey, harry Des ros i ers, Richard Halperry. <br /> Robert Sherman and Dan Homeyer were present also. <br /> There was discussion of a letter in the Falmouth Enterprise by Michael Grotzke <br /> f New Seabury corp. It was noted there was misinformation concerning test <br /> reports and the cutting of lawns. A response is to be drafted for review. <br /> Copy of a letter to Selectman Gottlieb was read re land owned by Mash pee Pod <br /> Gun Club and the town' s ',right of first refusal . After discussion, <br /> VOTE: Motion rade and seconded to respond to the Selectmen that the Commission <br /> recommends, with a portion of the land corpin back to the Tern and as <br /> the purchase would be a financial burden, that the option be refused. <br /> There will be a workshop at CGCG on February 9 and 10 having to do with Earth <br /> Day. The Chairman displayed ars Earth Flag and suggested the commission donate <br /> one to the school . <br /> Bob Gray is to be contacted re Vernal Pool Program. The Chairman suggested <br /> second, third and fourth grade students, as a science thrust. <br /> Applications for membership were reviewed for recommendation to the Selectman <br /> for their scheduled appointment on Monday, January � of the remaining full <br /> voting member and associate member. <br /> The Chairman advised Philip Kingsley asked. to have h i s name withdrawn due to <br /> illness. <br /> Mr. York has advised the Chairman that if not appointed full member, he would <br /> be i ntere ted in the associate membership. <br /> Mr. Homeyer stated he would be also. <br /> It was noted the other three candidates have not attended any meetings and <br /> have not contacted the Commission., <br /> The Mashpee River Woodlands Committee stated they would be delighted to have <br /> any one of the applicants on their board, John' s Pend Parc Committee is also <br /> in creed of members. <br /> Mr. Coffey advised Mr. York attended the Sarakurm i t on-site last Saturday. He <br /> was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. <br /> 1r. Homeyer asked if experts in the field were a cost to the Commission and was <br /> informed that they are, unless special arrangements are possible with the applicant. <br /> He advised his job requires a lot of overtime, especially during the summer and <br /> suggested Nor. York would be a better candidate due to availability, He was thanked <br /> for his honesty and invited to attend on-sites and workshops when possible. <br /> VOTE: Motion made and seconded to recommend that Duncan York be appointed <br /> Associate member and Dan Homeyer be invited to join the Commission <br /> as a non-voting associate member. <br /> Richard Halpern abstained. <br />
