t r
to is this particular portion of his real estate operation. He can sell all
those lots he wants - fill it in and sell the 2.8 acres - going' to hurt the
water quality of our pond. His well water cores from grater only- 81 under that
pond - he doesn't want this abomination. He said that whatever consideration
the Commiss ion gives thea, they wi l ap pre c.late.
Mrs. Studley said that the Personnel Board wanted each of the performance
appraisal forms to be signed and Mrs. Sloane said that she was advised that
since the Commission had unanimously rejected his reappointment, there was no
reason they had to sign them - she was advised by her legal authority. She
was told that the Personnel Board will not accept the appraisal forms without
signatures -- Ronald Pooknett and the Board itself are the only ones that have
access to the file, Mrs. Studley then asked if they would accept Mrs. Studle t s
copy of the form, stating on it that all members were in agreement and thea asked
for someone to make a motion that the majority of the Commission is in agreement
with Mrs. Studley's copy of the for'r , so moved, seconded and approvedO
i i t no ,.
Apparently no action has been taken by the Board of Selectmen on the dog
shooting incident, Mrs, Studley said that she had his December embe log which has a
total of 983 miles, and, for the record, there is in our secretary's Wage Ac-
count as of December 31, $265.4o and in the Expense Account, $1,373-77. She
asked if there were any questions on the log - there were none. She was asked
if there were any outstanding bills and she said maybe just some postage,
irs. Studley asked if there was anything else before theomni iss,ion turned
its attention to the Ashumet Pond problem and Mrs. Sloane wanted to know if
anything was eves'` heard on Mendelson. Mrs. Studley said that Mr. Buckingbam
didn't call her after he talked with Harold Collins and Mrs. 'Sloane said she
will follow through on that.
Mrs. Studley saild that they had a meeting with Dr. Kerfoot last Wednesday
on the water quality. He is going to submit the proposal - it's go l ng to re-
quire some funding and she said she didn't know where we're going to get the
money - % federal, 25% state and 5 town. On the town part, Ron's services
as Conservation Officer can be taken as part of the % required of the town.
Mrs. Sloane said that she thinks the odds of the town putting up that 25% are
minimal. Mrs. Studley said than apparently the funds are there and readily
accessible - nobody has spoken for them ye t. There's no harm in applying. As
far as the town goes, it's for the good of everyone, so there's no reason why
they shouldn't appropriate funds for it.
Getting back to the Wheeler matter, Mrs. Studley asked if the members
wished to support the superseding order, and Mrs. Sloane and Mr. Dias agreed.,
wdth Mrs. ] eLory in opposition. Mrs. Studley asked if they thought the Com-,
mission should take any action against it or let It stand. Mr. . Dias asked
if the Commission thought they should go look at John's Pond and see what Mr.
Coleman was talking about. Mrs. Studley said that Mr. Coleman is claiming
that the peat will endanger this pond, but how d -vie know that it's the peat
that will do it'd There are more probl x s with septic tanks and fertilizer
than with that peat - no doubt the peat will cause problems, but no more than
