COISERVATION BOARD MEEFIING
M
January 14', 1981
Pauline DeLory, Vice Chairman
Dorothy Studley
Charles Buckingham
Mrs. Shirley Nad l an cane in tonight get. acquainted with the Board and to
express her interest in becoming a nembe . A letter was sent to the Selectmen
from the Board 's a.ting that they were recommending Mrs. Na.delma.n to be appointed
to the commission.
Also, Mr. peter Durmer has been sworn in by the sel-ectmen and will be joining us at
the net board meeting,
7:30 p.m. Hearing
Pauline: leads Notice of Intent -- to construe t a. single famil y dwelling at Lot
30 Glenneagle Drive, New Seabury, within 100 Feet of a swamp.
Bruce: I didn't even consider this wetlands. Charlie came by and saw fill dump6d
on this let which was fill I had to dispose of from one of my lots over on gide 16n.
Charlie brought ray attention to the fact that this is a wetland f, It is kind of like
drainage run-off from the gold' course. I imagine in the sumer time, maybe e by
August, there isn't any water there at all or maybe there is. It wouldn't surprise
me either way. This is basically ,just 'the way it is (referring to the plan), It is
hard to tell how many inches 'of water there is in there. I would life to make a,
little pond out of this. It is an eyesore the way it looks. -I thought the best
thing to do is scrap the surface of the water and get the clumps out of there and
have ars 8 or 10 inch pond in there. It is not wetlands as we have been accustomed
to going before the Board with.
Pauline: Are the dead stumps cedar?
Bruce: I can't -tell ,you, Pauline.
Charlie: This is predominately swamp maple.
Bruce: All the -trees look dead to me, Wayne has seen the place. He could tell
you what it is.
Dorothy: Is it strictly run-off from the road or golf course?
Bruce:, Shows ;h ere there is a depression.'
Charlie: This was originally a, swamp. Explains how it was before the golf course
was made. Now- it has developed into a. pretty good duck nesting area. I would not
like to sae any part of it altered. T don't think that the club would allow you-to
in the ffirst place.
Bruce: Why?
