Charlie noted that everything needs to be to scale and <br /> he will be monitoring the project for accessibility. <br /> Chairman Wooldridge pointed out there will be a senior living complex built on old Barnstable <br /> Road across from Southport. Mr. Mendoza said they have their perm-its and the buildings are <br /> being framed. <br /> The Chair spoke about snow and ice removal and how we.need to remind Catherine to notify the <br /> contractors not to plow the snow into handicap spaces particularly in Deer Crossing and South <br /> Cape village. Mr. Mendoza suggested sending a memo to DPW as a friendly reminder that <br /> when they spear to the drivers or put it out to bid that when they plow to be aware of the <br /> handicapped parting spots and curb cuts and the need to keep them clear for our residents. H <br /> also suggested an ad or letter in the Enterprise. Maybe also an ad or letter later thanking the <br /> plowers for their cooperation. Charlie suggested maybe the Chamber could help with this. <br /> Bob spore about the Disability Policy Consortium which is state-wide organization involved <br /> with lobbying and organizing projects for improving access. For several years the consortium <br /> and the State Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing have been pushing for changes <br /> regarding educating children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Now sign language interpreters <br /> are re lu ired. They also are lobbying to get the legislature to do something to allow conferencing <br /> for disability meetings. They have also been working on establishing focus groups to loop into <br /> disability problems , chronic problems and what is lacking in the system. There are confidential <br /> focus groups on health and community needs for the disabled. <br /> MOD is conducting a survey of commissions who are getting money from parking fines and how <br /> they are using it but Mashpee is not eligible to participate in this program. Mr-. Mendoza <br /> suggested Mr. Wooldridge email these bulletins to the members. <br /> SMILE has been very active and the Recreation Department has dealt with them in getting new <br /> wheelchairs for the disabled at South Cape Beach. SMILE is looking for other projects along <br /> with trying to raise funds. <br /> Beverly spore about how she can't get on any tour bus. Bob said he tabs to IFIL even couple <br /> of weeks about his issue and he also speaks to the tour lady who schedules tours for the Senior <br /> Center. Where has been no significant or encouraging movement on this issue. It has been <br /> frustrating. <br /> Motion: Patricia Parolsky moved to adjourn, seconded by Michele Brady.
