i
f
s
very much o posed to more"special"or"revolving" accounts; however, there may be
other methods by which these foals could be fenced for ADA purposes. Terrie
volunteered to discuss the issue with the Town Manager to get her thoughts. Marilyn
noted that any separate fund probably would require Tom.Meeting approval. If that i
determined to be the most appropriate route, we will have to develop a proposed warrant
item by early February.
Terrie expressed concem with the proliferation of ears parking in the fire lanes at the
Stop& Shop and other locations. She suggested this be brought to the attention of the
Police Department and suggesting stricter enforcement. Perhaps the parking patrols
could also watch for these violations too.
The Mashpee Cable and Technical Advisory Cottee was mentioned briefly as a
possible source of funding for some ADA-related projects. Mention of this committee
led Bob to ask if it would be feasible to include provision for closed captioning for the
public access channels in the next contract with COMCAST. Terrie said she would raise
this question with the Tom Manager in the near future.
Terrie reported she has noted a number of stores and restaurants requiring liquor licenses
had installed new(arid correct)handicapped parking signs. This obviously is the result of
Charlie's initiative to provide those businesses with liquor licenses with early notification
that renewal of licenses will be tied to compliance with the handicapped parking and sign
regulations. The word also is spreading to other businesses and new signs are popping up
at a.number of locations and other businesses have placed orders for new signs. Thanks,
Charlie.
Ira reported the request to avoid blocking handicapped parking spaces when plovAng
school parking lots to Brad Tripp, School Department Facilities Director. The proper
handicapped parking signs for the schools have to be ordered. Due to other priorities no
action has yet been taken on the play to obtain a second automatic door for the main
entrance to the high school or to install the burnpers around the handicapped seating
platforms in the auditorium. The committee recommended automatic doors be installed
on the ream entrance to Quashnet School as part of the planned security improvements.
Marilyn rated the input for the annual town report is due to Kathleen Moore by January
2, 2007. Bob will draft the input for corrnnittee review and approval as soon as possible.
The report Will focus on the committee"s achievements during the past year and
ldentlf ing our near and long terra objectives. It was suggested the report make
particular note of the importance to the committee's efforts resulting from the
participation of town officials. Specifically,Terrie Cook as the Selectmen's liaison,
Charlie's actions through the Building Department,Ma flys 's assistance helping us
navigate through Town Hall and the personnel field and Ira Brown representing the
School Department. Mert's experience and connections with TRIAD, the Police
Department, Senior Center and other town activities also has given a big boost to our
efforts. Trish and Teffie also suggested we clude a photo of Bev in her new
