We agreed on the need to speaking with one voice from an agreed upon position in

seeking compliance with these and other ADA related regulations. Until such time as
morecompleteeo le the MOD-run Community Access Monitor Training Program ,
,
p p
violations noted by ADA. Committee members and TRIAD should be reported to the
Building Department for enforcement action. Committee members will check with town
officials and others in the community who are interested in attending this training. If
there is sufficient interest for the training,we Will check vAth MOD to try to arrange a
special training session in the Mashee area.
Mert reported that Julius Rosales of TRIAD attended a recent meeting of the Affordable
Housing Committee to discuss handicapped parking. The Affordable Housing
Committee expressed interest in getting more information on the activities and concerns
of the ADA Committee. At Mr. Morales' suggestion, they would like to schedule the
same type briefing Bob gage to TRIAD in April. Bob will check with Charlotte Carron,
Planning Department, for more details and scheduling.
When discussing possible warrant items for the October Town Meeting. Beer suggested
n article authorizing an account for projects recommended by the ADA Committee. The
majority of these projects are relatively low cost and could be funded by the ADA.
Committee funds, if any, instead of waiting for funds to be available in the very tight
torn budget. Most projects on our"Wish list"really should not be put off indefinitely
while waiting for town funds. A separate account is authorized under M.G.L. Chapter
o, Section 22G, if the Town accepts Chapter 40, Section 8J of the M.G.L. The Town
Manager and the Selectmen have opposed efforts to accept Section 8J, establishing
Commission, and are generally opposed to setting up such special accounts. However,
there may be viable options for designating certain funds specifically for ADA purposes
such as those items identified on our"wish list." Trish and Terrie will meet nth Joyce t
explore this issue in detail.
Trish agreed to meet with Terrie to request guidance from the Selectmen as to just ghat
they expect the conunittee to be doing and what type of controls over our activities will
make them most comfortable. This will assuage the feelings of some committee
members that the Town Manager and Selectmen look on us at best,as a necessary evil
and at,worst as, a secondary board of little significance..
Trish reported the Planning and Construction Committee does not appear to be moving
forward on any projects at the moment. They may be floundering a bit since Ken
Mrsters resigned from the committee. However, some Planning and Construction
Committee members will be part of the Library Building Committee, when formed.
Trish Will provide our"wish list"to planning and Construction at their next meeting.
Perhaps some of these projects could be addressed as part of P1 "Jin and Construction
Committee efforts.
Trish also reported Brad Tripp, School Department Buildings and Grounds Chief will
install bumpers around the audio-visual platforms in the high school auditorium that are
also used for wheelchair seating. A.big debt of gratitude for Trish, Ann Bradshaw and
