a, <br /> x <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of the Mashpee Americans with Disabilities Act Committee, <br /> August lo, 2006 <br /> The Mashpee Americans with Disabilities Act Committee net Thursday, August 10, <br /> 2006 at Mashpee Torn Hall Meeting Room 2. <br /> J <br /> I <br /> Members In attendance; <br /> William Iundon(co-chair) <br /> Marilyn Farren <br /> Patricia Parolsl i <br /> Robert Wooldridge <br /> Theresa Cook, Board of Selectmen Liaison <br /> The minutes of the July 13, 2006 meeting were reviewed and approved. <br /> TeiTie reported the Selectmen requested Ira submit a letter of interest before they can vote <br /> on his appointment to the committee. Ira has prepared a letter and a resume' and will <br /> submit it as requested. The committee voted unanimously to recommend his <br /> appointment. Bob will send an email to Kathleen Moore informing her of our <br /> recommendation. Terrxe has taken the steps necessary to have the appointment placed on <br /> the agenda for the August 21, 2006 meeting of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Bob noted that due to a family emergency he chid not have the opportunity to submit a <br /> item to the Mashpee Enterprise advertising the telephone number and email address for <br /> contacting the ADA Committee. He will do so in the next few days. <br /> Due to the illness of the Richard Stevens,the Building Inspector,the Building <br /> Department is unable to give any atte .tlon to notifying commercial property overs o <br /> the proper handicapped parking signs or taping follow-up action. Marilyn reported that <br /> Charlie is seeking help from the committee to research addresses, mall letters and <br /> performs follow-up checks. Bob noted that TRIAD has offered to do this. Bob will <br /> contact Mert to get the ball rolling. Bob will also discuss need for proper signs at some <br /> town buildings with DPW(Catherine Laurent). Ira will check the signs at the schools. <br /> Evidence of signifficant progress in the effort to brig handicapped parking signs up to <br /> proper standards 's the recent installation of the proper signs in South Cape Village and <br /> Mashpee Commons. Although it has not been confirmed this may have been the result of <br /> actions by Ted Nadolny, Director of the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce# <br /> As promised, Chief Collins has been stressing enforcement of the handicapped parking <br /> regulations even as the department is severely taxed during this busy season. The Town <br /> Clerk told Bob some tickets have been Witten in recent weeks with the new fine. Bob <br /> shared ars email received from Debi Dau giving her response to an appeal of a ticket <br /> given for illegal parking at CVS in Mashpee Commons. The driver was, "just running in <br /> to pick up a script and there were other handicapped spaces available." The driver also <br /> complained that,`the officer charged the amount of the fine for her.' Debi denied the <br />
