.t <br /> MashMashpee Conservationr i i <br /> Meeting of March 14v 19$5 <br /> Page Four <br /> Scott McAskell of New Seabury Corporation presented plans for the <br /> inspection of those present . <br /> Mr. Moskell emphasized that there are two separate Notices of Intent <br /> being presented for this project. <br /> Rick Lamb, architect for the SWA Group, spoke and provided description <br /> of the project using architectural drawings , in some detail . SWA Group <br /> are landscape architects . <br /> Ir. Lamb noted that the project does core within approximately % of <br /> the jurisdictional area of the Conservation Comi.ssion. <br /> A retaining wall and a construction fence is proposed for the area <br /> surrounding the swimming pool . The steps which are a. portion of the <br /> front deck will be carried across to help with an erosion condition <br /> caused by people walking down to the beach. This would prevent erosion <br /> at the toe of the dune . <br /> Plant material selected ,i heather, cedar, various herbs , autumn olives . <br /> In answer tb Mr, Tavares question of "hand work vs . machine work" , <br /> Mr. Lamb said that the interest in is hand work on the cabana club <br /> side . Any machine work will be done of the other side of the area. <br /> Hay bales will be staked In place during construction if necessary. <br /> Dr. Bartholemew Dutto spoke describing the area as a verb` sensitive <br /> area describing the varied and sometimes intense sand shifts caused <br /> by winds which increases deleterious weight effects on the dunes . <br /> He mentioned, in particular, the pounds tonnage on the pool area.. <br /> Mr. Lamb replied, "There is a balance of the weight of the pool which <br /> es down seven feet and the weight of that ground redistribution <br /> which in a.ctua.l. fact I think you will find that the area is lighter <br /> than the present condition right now even though there ' s a pool sitting <br /> in it." - - r <br /> . Arlene Wilson of BSC Cape Cod Consultants said, "This particular <br /> project plan In so far as it does not intrude any farther into the <br /> beach and things that are already there and has , in fact, taken into <br /> account the protection of the existing dune fora and trying to control <br /> pedestrian traffic will probably reduce the over-all recreational <br /> impact on the beach itself, " <br /> Mr, cAskell: 'The main thing environmentally -is just the removal <br /> of the existing cesspools that have presented a. big problem in hori- <br /> zontal leaching being plus or minus 601 away from the dune presenting <br />
