'r
r
Ashumet-Johns Pored Assoc zon
i
. ; Box 1002, M02649
September 15, 19$9
Mai hp a Conservation Commission
ahpee Town Hall
Ma hpee, MA 02649
To Whom it May Concern
As President and spokesperson for the seventy plus ma be r s of
the Ashumet Johns Pond Association; I wish to express our
objection to the erection of a sixty foot (plus/minus) break-
wall
reak:-
a11 into which twenty p1 rims yards of cement was
poured by Mr. Robert F. Spousta on the shore of Johns Pond ,
It is my understanding that the Conservation Commission was
not notified of Mr. Spousta's intent. I have been under the
impression that no construction can be attempted within one
hundred feet of wetlands without Conservation Commission
approval .
The present structure stands in approximately six inches of
water, It is our belief, that our pored and wildlife already
in peril , are further Jeopardized by actions such as this.
We feel that the ponds' natural currents, necessary for its
cleansing and life itself are adversely affected b
breakwalls of this type.
Mr. Spousta is now coring before the Commission4 requesting
permission to construct an additional break all . As initial
construction of the first wall was completed with no
Conservation Commission approval , the question i , not
whether permission houId be granted to construct an
additional wall , but whether the first wall should be allowed
to remain ,
As an organization committed to the preservation of both
hue t and Johns Ponds, we hope that Commission members will
not approve this or any similar actions
Thank you for your attention to this matters
n
Ric and Mail ly
President
shumet/Johns F" nd Association
RWM =1g-m
