Community Facility Needs Assessment Committee
Minutes of Meeting Held Thursday, September 27, 2001
Mashpee Town Hall—Meeting Room I
Present: G. Frederick, F. Blythe, L. Patrick,K. Cayer,M. Horne, and J. Long.
Absent: W. Taylor, and S. Fleury
Invited Guest: Steve McFadden of Bargmann Hendrie+Archetype (bh+a)
A quorum of the Committee members being present, Fred Blythe, Chairman, called the
meeting to order at 4:10 p.m.
bh+a
Steve McFadden addressed the Committee with a request that bh+a would like an update
and asked what else did they(bh+a) have to supply, if anything?
Following discussion, the consensus was that we should wait to see what develops at the
October I Town Meeting and then have a meeting with bh+a at that point. A meeting of
the Committee and bh+a was set for 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 11.
Gus Frederick asked Steve to have bh+a change the"child care" label on all material to
read"kid's club" since the label "child care" is misleading to Selectmen and others.
Fred Blythe stated that he made a presentation to the School Committee and the
Superintendent of Schools. Feedback is that they would not put an elementary school
near the High School.
Mike Horne noted that the Superintendent of Schools stated his concerns are traffic going
through High School and septic/water concerns.
SENIOR CENTER
Jim Long informed the group that he is considering doing a PowerPoint presentation at
the October 1 Town Meeting showing Senior Center needs and statistics.
At this point, Steve McFadden exited the meeting.
APPROVAL OF bh+a INVOICE
Kevin Cayer motioned to approve a bh+a invoice in the amount of$11,750; this was
seconded by Louise Patrick; and unanimously approved. With payment of this invoice, a
total of$35,000 will have been paid to bh+a from.the $50,000. appropriation.
