Town of Mashpee <br /> Blue Ribbon.Comprehensive Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> December 2 ,2005 <br /> The Town of Mashpee Blue ribbon Committee was called to order in Conference Roo <br /> #1, .Mashpee Town Hall, 16 Great Neck Road Norti, Mashpee, .Massachusetts at 7:00 p fru. on <br /> Thursday, December 22, 2005. The Chairman}Don Myers,presided* <br /> Blue Ribbon Committee Members present: Chuckie •cen, vice hair; Lee Gurney} <br /> Beverly Dane; John Miller; lion Myers, Chairman;Douglas Storrs, Clerk-Ted Theis. <br /> Also present: F. Thomas Fud.ala,Town Planner, <br /> A quormn being present, the Chairman called the meeting to order. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> November 10,2005 <br /> December&,2005 <br /> Motion: The Chairman asked if there were any additions or deletions to the meetings <br /> held on November 10, 2005 and December- t" 2005. John Miller made a mofion to approve the <br /> gates for November 10, 2005. He also made a motion to approve the minutes for the December <br /> 81"' 005 Blue Ribbon Committee rrreeting,which were both voted unanimously. <br /> General Point of Discussion <br /> Public Input <br /> The Chairman asked the Committee if there was any way to improveinput from the <br /> public,regarding the coimnittee meetings. He asked the members of the committee if they wanted <br /> people to attend and participate in discussions regarding the meeting. <br /> Chuckie green, the Vice Chainnan, suggested that the meetings of the committee,should <br /> begin at five minutes before meeting for public comment, <br /> Lee Guiney said that the meeting minutes could be listed up on a Web page, and that the <br /> public could send members' comments. She also stated Haat it would be preferable for the public <br /> to spew at the ends of meetings. <br /> The Vice Chairman disagreed with Ms. Gurney's comment. He said that the cornrnittee <br /> needed to set perimeters to the-meeting, He said Haat public comments at the end of the meeting <br /> limited people watching the committee for their input. He added that people were drawing up <br /> con rents from going along listening to the meeting. He said that five minutes earlier before the <br /> meeting was held was enough time if there were public comments. <br /> John Miller said that:the committee had not really encouraged public con ncaent, saying <br /> that it was essential and that the connnittee should encourage it proactively. He added that the <br /> group did not have a critical mass of substance for the public to react:to. He said that since the <br /> press coverage of the cornmittees' meetings was sporadic, except during the Selectman's <br /> Meeting, so that their members would encourage and ask for public feedbag for the Blue ribbon <br /> Committee. <br /> The Chairman said that the members of the Committee sounded flexible and asked if all <br /> of the suggestions be tried. He added that the committee would set up time at the beginning of`flre <br /> meeting for public comments. As the committee discussed topios,the members would ask for arra <br /> feedback. He said that the committee could extend the meeting beyond the time limits, as well. <br /> The Chaimnan asked for any comments from Douglas Storrs, the Clerk. <br /> The Clerk said that the more public comments, the better. He added fat any vehicle the <br /> committee could have a public comment would be wonderful and whether the public would want <br /> to c-mail comments. He said that he was afraid only four people were watching the coffunittee on <br /> r <br />
