AD-HOC COMMITTEE ON PLUMES IMPACTING MASHPEE <br /> MINUTES MAY 7 , 1998 , 8:30 a.m. <br /> Conference Room 2jr mashpee Town Hall <br /> Greg Taylor, chairman, called the meeting to order at 8 : 35 a.m. <br /> in Conference Room #2 at Ma h ee Town Hall. <br /> Present*. Greg Taylor , Bob Whritenour ,, Nancy Caffyn , <br /> Elis McQuade, Bob Sherman. <br /> Absent: Bob Cram, Elliot Rosenberg , David Rich. <br /> The Committee voted to approve the Minutes of February 12 , 1 998 , <br /> March 5 , 1998 , and April 2 , 1998 <br /> A discussion ensued about fish with bleeding sores found last <br /> fall swimming ire the Mash ee-Wakeby Pond; <br /> Elias McQ, reported that two fish (a trout and a bass) with <br /> exterior sores were checked out by a marine expert at the <br /> Barnstable County Health Department , and he found nothing wrong <br /> with the fish. The sores were not related to the JBT plurae <br /> Nancy C. feels we should ask for some testing with the Department <br /> of Public Health since th i.s .i s a health 'issue and a State issue. <br /> Greg T. recommended having the Selectmen look into this. <br /> Elias McQ. took samples from Pi,ckeral Pond. (Ma hpee--Wakeby) , <br /> John' s Pond, and Ashumet Pond. They found contamination, and <br /> he is re-sampling. Elias is testing for all VOC' , EBB, and <br /> NTEB. He will have the results in a week <br /> PLUMES UPDATE: <br /> CS-10: Nancy c, stated that she read in today ' s newspaper that <br /> the polio hearing that was scheduled for May 7th (tonight) has <br /> been delayed* It is her understanding that DEP and EPA are <br /> working with the military to come to some resolution. other <br /> than the testing that is going on, there .is nothing new to <br /> report. <br /> D-5: Greg T. stated they are suppose to be developing a work <br /> plan. <br /> FS-1: Greg T. received a letter from Bill Fisher dated <br /> May 1 , 1998 . The Plume Cominittee and the Board of Selectmen <br /> will be forwarded a copy of this letter, Greg T, reviewed points <br /> 1 through 9 of this letter,. <br />
