Conservation Corssion
March 2 , 1994
Page 7.
Ater discussion, it was agreed to set aside one evening to have the consultants,
awatia and Lelito, come in and discuss their proposals.
V: Motion made and seconded to invite the consultants to come in on April 1 +
at 7:00 p.m.
Chin Green - Interview: 14r. Green stated he would lie to serve on the Board
and can offer insight as he was raised in the woodlands and has worked on con-
struction. He has worked with Leigh Potter on the river clean-up and has volun-
teered on several projects in the woodlands.
Mr. Green is employed in the installation of water, sits on the advisory board
at WBNERR and is vice President of the Tribal Council.
F
Mr. Desrosiers asked what he thought was. the most important problem facing the
enviroment and he stated it was protection of the aquifer. The Tribal Council
and the Commission have similar goals in mind, to preserve the wetlands and acquifer
so that we can have drinking water and saving the bays. Those are the essential
issues to the Tribal Council. In his work he sees wells that have to convert to
town grater due to pollution.
Ms Lannik asked if he would be available to doon-sites and have time during the
day? His schedule is flexible, with notification. , Concerning evening meetings,
he advised two per month would not be a problem; his wife works nights.
Mr. Homeyer asked if he had any ideas for recovering the bays
Mr. Green stated to bring thea back as they were is not doable, if all construction
stopped today, it would be loo years to get it back. We can help the hays co-exist
wi th man.
Mr. Green was thanked for coming in.
Willowl xd - Pedestrim Culvert: Ms. Fantozzi notified the Commission about a
possible change. There was a partial Certificate of Compliance and an Amended
Order of Conditions requiring them to put In drainage as the tarred section went
towards the bogs. As a result of the sewer line, most of the pavement is ripped
up. Willowend is amenable to putting in gravel instead of repairing, which would
not require the drainage. If replaced Nvith tar, they will put in the drain.
%Mr. Desrosiers asked if there is a steep slope` Ms Fantozzi stated on the north
side there is a fairly steep slope. If modified, she will provide a Request t for
Determination of Applicability, The Commission agreed.
c rmack: Ms Fantozzi made the commission aware the plan called for 6 x 6 pilings,
driven to refusal. The piles are square and schen driven tend to shatter, Instead
of 6 x 6 square, they are requesting to put in round piles. The stock for round
pilings cones between 6 and 8 inches and they cannot guarantee each one is 6 inches.
WN AP ` - A
Mr. Homeyer stated he would prefer to see' a round, pile 6f larger diameter because
when driven to refusal there is less;chance of ice lifting. Ile asked if this can
e dome without an amended order? It was a minimal change, only NO
Mr. Sherman stated if withinF 10 it is acceptable. •.
r
Mrs. Ferriday suggested Ms Fanto i amend the plan and initial it.
r
