The Road committee has concerns with the right of ways and
safe passage. They have always maintained swales off the
Pond, A severe problem is that- the sand has washed over the
swales. After rain storms, pedestrians have to walk through
inch puddles which is a safety hazard, They asked if they
can put the swales back into the pond? They must get the
water off the road.
Mr, Sherman advised he walked the areas with Mrs. Landry and
n emergency certificate was given to cut a marrow path for
public safety reasons which would have to be followed up with
a filing. The main issue is the swales are port of BVW and
would need more details in a Notice of Intent.
The Association used to take care of this with shovels. They
are looping for relltef in order to provide safety for the
residents.
Mr. Sherman stated there is no quick and easy solution; the
Commission cannot rubber stamp what is proposed.
Mrs. Landry stated they have to be allowed to clear a path;
there is no way to get off these roads. This is proven by
the letter they got from the Police Department.
Ir. Fitzsimmons stated it is good they came in to try to get
something done before next summer. It would behoove the
omtission to insist on a proper filing to get this done in a
proper manner.
The Association suggested when they come in next year to do
Shore Drive, they could come to some resolution but could the
come in with a bobcat in the meantime to reduct the sand
level.
lir# Sherman stated whatever they suggest may be benign but
this calls for a Notice of Intent
Mr-. Desrosiers stated there has to be an official record.
Mrs. Landry asked if the Commission would consider the
opening up of the swales again? Mr, Sherman offered to help
with the paperwork but cannot design it. The Commission
would have to have precise delineation of where it is going
into each swales are they going into BVW or disturbing
remnants of dune; ghat is the extent of work?
Mr. Sherman will meet with Michael Grote and walk the area.
Mrs. Ferriday stated they will need help delineating those
swales; it may be that they should get a consultant.
Mr. Sherman Suggested Michael Grotzke might bring in Brad
Sall and they can work together-. He stated the sand can be
removed and taken away, only on the asphalt.
It was stated the dunes were not there in 1970, you can see
where the swales used to be.
