The area has
been staled.
Mr. Sherman stated it would be conditioned Jeff and he meet
before the start of work.. Everything in the request is quite
reasonable but one thing proposed is to treat the 'area with
Round-up.
Mr. Chase advised the area is choked with weeds that come up
in the summer and in sandy soil in the winter. They are
afraid the terrible weed problem would jeopardize the success
of the plantings. The slope is away from the river ban} .
Mrs. Ferriday asked how long it would take to disseminate
before planting the heath and heather. Mr. 'ase advised it
would be 1 to 0 mays. Mrs. Ferriday asked i they had
considered mulch* He stated that would not deter weeds.
Mr* Homeyer suggested biodegradable polyethylene with mulch
over it instead of Round-up. Mr, Sherman stated the County
Extension Service finds that half-good, half-bad; .it prevents
the weeps from growing up but then prevents the root
structure from establishing itself beneath it.
Mr. Sherman suggested referring the question on Round-up to
the County Extension Service before issuing.
Mr, Desrosiers asked the Agent to get the recommended
application information also.
VOTE: Motion made and seconded that the Agent contact the-
County
heCounty Extension service re Round-up.
Mr. Chase asked for their recommendations, if they would not
allow bound-up. They have received bids from Tavares & Hoxie
Philie but cannot male a decision until they receive
permission because whether or not Bounce-yap is permitted i
critical .
Mrs. Ferriday stated the Commission will condition two
growing seasons for replacement of plants that do not
survive. To a question of fertilization, Mr-. Chase replied
that peat will be mixed in with the soil.
VOTE: Motion made and seconded to accept the amendment with
the condition that there be an onsite with the Agent
prior to start of work; information from the County
Extension Service on Round-up, its use and
application; condition of two growing seasons for
replacement of plants; and no fertilizer to be used.
Unanimous Note.
AMENDMENT ACCEPTED.
8:40 W I LoWBE D DEVELOPMENT CORP, for a Determination o
Applicability on the placement of decking support piles
