Kew Kline <br /> presenting. This is a demonstration project looking at altemative Mems, for five home <br /> situ in Falmouth and one in Mashpee. There is an existing cesspool to be replaced with an <br /> alternative system with a monitoring well just outside the leach field. Should any portion of <br /> the s stern fA it will convert back into a Title V system. Federal grant money is funding <br /> this project. It will be tested for a year. Flans have been proded to DEP and Board of <br /> Health, both actively involved in the project. <br /> IW. Sherman hearer endorsed the project and reconunended a negative detennination. <br /> 1W. Green asked if the Cou si <br /> Irn can be given data on this project? �&f Kline agreed to <br /> notify the Comnu'ssion when the system are going to be installed. Asked if there is <br /> anydiing for comparison, �&. Kline stated not yet. <br /> Mr. Fitzsimmons stated federal funds for a year qtr= mentioned and asked if after the <br /> installation was it up to the homeowners to maintain? 1&. Kline stated the homeowners <br /> have put up funding. Asked if there are on-going operate costs, he stated there were and <br /> it does require a Class 2 operator. �vk. A report was prepared by Sabana, a study and ana rsis <br /> of the bottom of Shoestring Bay, concerned with eel grass, soft-shell clans and other <br /> marine fife. <br /> 1 `r. Shin stated tis was a dock with shallow watff. The Commission requested <br /> information on the impact on the benthic community. There is still the issue that it is <br /> very shallow area.
