Zor <br /> Sweet Water Trust - <br /> Faneuil Hall Marketplace, 4 South Market Bldg,, 4th Floor, Boston, MA 02109 <br /> - October 1 , 2004 <br /> 4 <br /> RE: Mapping&management of conservation lard <br /> in-Massachusetts <br /> Dear Land Protection Colleague: <br /> To all of you who participated in the data and Wrapping project: Thank you! while the Geographic <br /> Information System is an irreplaceable tool, it requires diligent updating to keep apace of land use change. One <br /> of the fruits of our collective effort is more accurate mapping, so we happily nolose two updated maps, one <br /> representing conservation of natural lands in Massachusetts and another showing our Mate in context of land <br /> protected throughout northeastern North America. <br /> These naps describe what lands leave been protected and how those protected lands are being managed. <br /> They depict the natural landscape using U. S. Wrap Analysis Management Status Codes, One (land managed as <br /> wild), Two(managed for more intensive recreation)and Three may be managed for timber extraction), as well <br /> as similar data for adjoining Canadian Provinces.- Not shown on these two particular maps-are protected farms, <br /> golf courses, arra other conservation areas where vegetative cover has been removed and Dept off the land (GAP <br /> Status Four)... <br /> Some data that we received is incomplete and could not be digitized, so we plan to continue this project <br /> and some of you may Bear from Anna James as we seek more complete information.
