MASHPEE CONSERVATION COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of December 14,2006 <br /> Public Hearings <br /> Mashpee Town Hall Meeting Room 1 <br /> Commissioners present: Jack Fitzsimmons, Chairman, Ralph Shaw, Vice Chairman, Len <br /> Pinaud, Clerk, Lloyd Allen, Jeffrey Cross, and John Rogers. <br /> Staff present: Drew McManus, Assistant Agent, and Frances Wise, Board Secretary. <br /> /Jack Fitzsimmons called the meeting to order at 6:55 p.m. <br /> Public Comment: None. <br /> Non-Hearing Agenda <br /> Old Business: None. <br /> New Business: <br /> 1. SE 43-2432. Drew described the project and recommended approval. <br /> Motion made, seconded and unanimously carried to approve SE 43-2432. <br /> 2. DEP installation of gate off Grafton Pocknett Road. Drew said that Steve and he went to the <br /> John's Pond conservation area today and met with Mashpee DPW. The new gate will be <br /> installed within the next two weeks. It will be funded by the Barnstable Cooperative Extension <br /> and is sorely needed. <br /> 3. Americorps. Drew said he submitted an application for their assistance to upgrade <br /> Conservation lands in the Mashpee River Woodlands. They are going to repair some of the steps <br /> that have been eroding. They probably won't do this until Spring. They'll have about 7-12 <br /> volunteers to repair the steps, and will supply materials like railroad ties. They are also willing <br /> to help on some other projects. <br /> 4. Approval of minutes for 11/9/06. <br /> Motion made, seconded and unanimously carred to approve the minutes of 11/9/06. <br /> 5. Massachusetts Audubon Society. Jack said he received a letter asking if Conservation would <br /> like to make a presentation at their 12th Annual Cape Cod Nstory Conference. <br /> 6. MACC Annual Environmental Conference. Jack said this will take place on Saturday, March <br /> 3rd, at Holy Cross, <br /> 7. Blue Ribbon Committee. Jack read a letter he received from the Town Manager dated <br /> 12/14/06 in which she said that the Board of Selectmen is hoping that Conservation will be <br /> represented at the Blue Ribbon Committee meetings. Jack said he was surprised to receive this <br />
