l <br /> Conservation Commission <br /> on <br /> Minutes of March 8, 2012 <br /> Public Hearings <br /> iashpee Town Hall -Conference Room. <br /> Commissioners: Vide Chairman Ralph Shag, Lloyd Allen, John Rogers, Patty Jalo y and Steve Cook <br /> Staff Present: Drew Manus (Conservation Agent) <br /> Call Meeting To order: 6:55 pr <br /> The meeting was called to order with a quorum by Vice Chairman Ralph Shaw at 6:55 pm. <br /> There was no public comment. <br /> Pre/Post Hearing Agenda: <br /> 1 Minutes: Approval of the following-minutes: N/A <br /> 2 l=ire Road Clearing-Tribal land (south I lashpee Pine Barrens) - N CS funded a program as part- <br /> of a USFWS New England Cottontail project. The Agent explains that they are proposing <br /> widening of the forest access rood which is partly e 'ess for,the New England Cottontail work on <br /> the tribal land and also part of the reed-widening work along stretches of Great Hay Road for <br /> wildfire access. Chuck Greene asked this to be presented for approval so that they can start the <br /> road wid0ning work. It is approximately 1 ' on each side of the road that borders the Mashpee <br /> Conservation Land parcel which abuts directly to the tribal land. <br /> Motion.made, seconded and unanimously carried to approve the offering <br /> 3 Recap ap of Ar ericorps Volunteer Wo r da r (Mash peeuashnet herring runs/tribal volunteers) <br /> February 27th consisted of volunteers from Ame'ricore and 4 volunteers from the Mashpee <br /> 1Jarnpanoag Tribe to cover some of the upper reaches of the Ma tepee and Quashnet Fivers to <br /> ensure free passage forthe herring. The Agent states that there have been reports of herring <br /> scouts spotted and he assumes it is because of the mild Breather.
