0 TOWN OF MASHPEE
Zoning Board of Appeals
Amended Minutes - Wednesday, March 12, 2003
With respect to the hearing regarding Paul Squarcia
Please include the following:
" Ms. Descoteaux, a Bright Coves Village Committee representative, informs the Board
that the committee does not oppose the dock as long as the appropriate permits are
obtained. Committee members are concerned about the confrontational attitude being
exhibited among the neighbors."
Also, from Mike Oleksak
" I own a house across from the Squarcia property. We bought our house in 1998. I
understand Paul Squarcia's desire to have a dock from his property. I bought on the
waterfront, paid a premium to walk out onto my dock to my boat. That's why you pay a
premium to be on the water. As I understand it, this dock has had to be laid out and
extended 90 feet in order to accommodate the moorings. These moorings are rented for
$50 per year and are moveable. So what's wrong with this picture? If you move the
mooring, the $50/year mooring, by 10 or so feet, the 90 foot dock can be shortened to 20
feet and everybody's happier. Why make everybody unhappy with a 90 -foot dock when
you can have a 20 foot dock by moving one mooring and making everybody happier?
Paul should be allowed to build a dock, but with some reasonable accommodations, so it
can be a 20 foot dock instead.
I
