•a <br /> We, the undersigned, respectfully request that-the following article included in <br /> the December 2, 1985 Town Meeting Warrant <br /> ARTICLE <br /> To see if the Town will vote to enact a moratorium upon the issuance of <br /> building permits or wastewater disposal permits and the approval of, or <br /> acceptance of applications for, subdivision plans, "appr'ova l not required" <br /> plans and special permits for cluster or multi-family residential develop- <br /> ments or golf courses within the groundwater recharge areas and surface water- <br /> sheds of Ashumet Pond, Johns Pond, Mashpee Pond, Wakeby Pond, Santuit Pond, <br /> Hamblin Pond, dehu Pored, upper Great River that portion included in the <br /> "Waquoit Bay Area of Critical Environmental Concern") , and Ockway Bay,, the <br /> recharge area of the Highwood Water Company water supply wells and any lard <br /> within oo feet of the Ma shpee, Quashnet, Childs or Bantu i t Rivers, Red Brook, <br /> Quaker Run South of Route 28, shoestring Bay that part of Popponesset Bay <br /> above Simons Narrows and their adjacent wetlands, in order to permit a review <br /> by appropriate Town Boards, agencies and consultants of the present regulatlo,ns <br /> and controls governing such construction or development for the express purpose <br /> of protecting the health, safety and welfare of the inhabitants f the Town in <br /> as much as the Town has no municipal water supply or sewage treatment facility <br /> and has experienced deteriorating groundwater and surface water quality. Said <br /> moratorium shall not apply to any division of land or special permit where all <br /> portions of the site which are i n the ab; �� mentioned areas are o be preserved <br /> for undisturbed natural open space. Said moratorium shall expire two 2 gears <br /> from the- date of tete Town Meeting at which it was adopted, during which time <br /> the appropriate Boards and agencies shall develop and cause to be enacted any <br /> regulations found necessary to ensure the health, safety and welfare ofthe <br /> inhabitants of the Town with regard to -groundwater and surface water quality -in <br /> the above described areas. <br /> - - r <br />
