a <br /> i MINUTES March 22 , 1990 6 BOARD1' HEALTH <br /> Mr. McQuaid stated the Building Department has issued <br /> building permit, without Board of Health sign-off, for the <br /> addition to prevent any tie up that may occur as a result of <br /> the cape cod commission Act. <br /> Mr , Greelish expressed his concern with the existing <br /> 3 ector• system. <br /> Mr. McQuaid commented the septic system that was in- <br /> stalled is adequate for this expansion of the Police Station, <br /> however there is no excess capacity in that system for an in- <br /> crease in personnel for either the Police or Fire Depart- <br /> ments. <br /> Mr. costa requested Mr. McQuaid to contact the Archi- <br /> tects and request they meet with him to address concerns. <br /> Variance request_ -- - _ uan,et Rodd <br /> Mr. McQuaid informed the Board a local variance of 311 <br /> from well to septic is requested, as well as, a variance to <br /> install a shallow 51x7f pit dine to the topography of the land <br /> and possible breakout. Mr. McQuaid stated he would recommend <br /> the pit he lowered a few more feet, <br /> Mr. Doherty motioned to grant the 191 variance from well <br /> to septic as requested, lir~. Greelish seconded, all agreed. <br /> Mr. Doherty motioned to grant the shallow pit variance <br /> with the stipulation the lot is re-perked prior to septic <br /> system installation and the pit, as presented on plans, is <br /> lowered two or more feet, Mr. Greelish seconded, all agreed. <br /> Beechwood Drive <br /> Mr. Evans informed the Board water tests were performed <br /> on this lot and the abutting lot. Test results revealed high <br /> nitrates for both lots, former test results did not reveal <br /> any nitrate problems. The existing septic system is in fail- <br /> ure, <br /> ail- <br /> ur-e, the current distance from well to septic maintains less <br /> that 1001 . <br /> Mr. costa questioned Mr. Evans as to whether, in his <br /> opinion, the system could be improved by engineering. <br /> Mr. Evans responded no, due to the configuration of well <br /> and septic locations in this subdivision, repairing this sep- <br /> tic system may or may not have any effect on the nitrate <br /> level in the well, Mr. Evans informed the Board the owners <br /> of the lot in question operate a day care center. <br />
