iI UTEs December 13 , 1990 2 BOARD of HEALTH
PUBLIC HEADING - Public water supply
Citizens in attendance Etheleen Antunes, Albert
Comeau, Charles Tenney Sum erwood condo. Assoc, and Marie
calley. Mr. Stetson Hall , County Health Officer was also in
attendance.
Board members expressed their disappointment with the
number of moratorium residents in attendance.
Mr, Greelish informed those i n attendance of this Boards
intention to enforce the public water supply regulation to
all residents within the moratorium area. Mr. Greelish ex-
plained the basis of the Boards decision as it relates to the
location of the contaminated plume. Water hoof --up is now
available for residential use. This Board is aware of some
properties within the Cotuit corners area which have reported
contaminated water. This hoard will extend the area of the
moratorium to include those areas as soon as possible.
Mr-. costa stated this Board will consult with the Water
District to discuss the possibility of a price reduction for
water hook-up in the Cotuit Corner area.
Mr. McQuaid relayed Town Counsel is of the opinion the
Water District could provide water hook-up after which the
resident would be billed accordingly, however~ the WaterDis-
trict has informed us they do not have the money to front the
homeowners.
Ms. Scally relayed a customer phoned the Water District
and informed them the residents of orchard Road voted to ab-
stain from water hook-up.
Mr. McQuaid commented his interpretation of the results
indicate the plume is heading from Summerwood to Cotuit Cor-
ners,
r-
ners. currently less than 10 of the residents in Cotuit
Corner are hooked into public water. According to Town Coun-
sel the regulation may be enforced, however this Board must
consider the financial hardship this regulation may incur.
Mr. Greelish reiterated Mr. Costa's comments statin
this Board will meet with the Water Commissioner's to discuss
the issue.
