can't please all of the people all of the time. We try to do the best that we
can and we try to come up with reasonable solutions to rears problems. If
we were really concerned with air quality why do we have power plants
burning coal? That's why'we have mercury problems here because our
neighbors to the west all of their exhaust emissions cone this way, Why
are vire burning oil? Why are we burning diesel fuel and gasoline? If vire
are that oonoemed about health at aU costs considering nothing else we
wouldn't be doing any of that. But, you can't always have a perfect
solution. I am sorry if doesn't please everybody. That's the best we can
do. It is not going to stay the way it is. I want it to change. Yes I agree
that stores still sell tobacco, yeah they are going to smoke. And there i
i
that small minority of the population that wants to go to the bar and drink
and yeah I am going to allow it. But, for the most part no, The current
situation now that we have smoking its some restaurants. 1 hope to
change that. But as Stew said (Stewart Peoples) this is a technicality.
The question was what it was. We did agree with the question. Some of
us didn't agree with the question and therefore we voted to defeat. Glenn
did not vote to defeat it. He would have approved it. Anyone else want to
make a speech "
Mr. Bell made a motion to adjourn.
Ms. Warden stated that there was further business to attend to.
Mr. Ball asked if there was more business.
Mr. Harrington replied that there was more business.
Mr. Doherty, "one more quick question."
Member from the audience, "Where will the change cone from?"
Mr. Doherty, "The change will cone eventually. We are going to change
our own. regulation. And I know this is a painfully slow crawling process.
But as stew said that technically vire had a question before. We are not
going for that. Now we are going to beat each other up over the changes.
have more weapons that these guys. I am a hypocrite. I am a non-
smoker, My house is non-smoking. And yet I defend a persons right to
smoke, our constitution is written on people's rights to do things.
Sometimes it doesn't always make sense. We try to do the best we can.
Thank you for corning and I am very sorry that you are disappointed."
NEW BUSINESS:
A, Request for Extensions on Title V Disposal Works construction Permit:
Mr. Farrington began by stating that these properties are not in the Zone.
29
