k
Santos was upset that. He was upset about a few things and Ms, Grady
was upset about a few things. He suggested that they group together and
work this out to everyone's best interest.
Mr. Santos' biggest thing was that tovm owned property-grounds. Town
owned property is time park, the archives, the sidewalk, and the road. Hover
were they going to enforce this regulation? It was very simple. For
ex rnmplet if they ban town employees from smoking, like it states in the
regulation "food establishments, lounges, bars, smoking bars, town
owned, operated, leased or occupied buildings" which includes every
structure. That was his biggest problem was the structures. The
regulation continues by stating, "tern feet away from any door, window or
opermirrg." They town employees can't smoke out front because of the
windows. 1t was the same thing in the back of the building. They were
going to have to go ten feet away from the building. it was. up to the DPW
to put up the signs.
Mr. Ball agreed and replied that they could come in and do it. He didn't
want it to give them'carte blanche. He wanted therm to come in and ask
for a variance*
Mr. Santos stated than they were handling therm in time serve manner as
the private enterprisesm
Ms.. Grady stated that that was correct.
Mr. Santos stated that if they were going.to it to private grounds them
people couldn't smoke in the parking lots of Dino's dr the Commons. It
might not be town owned, but privately owned. He felt that they were
going from one extreme to another.
i
Ills. Brady felt that they could alloy the torr employees the.same
I
allowances provided to the privately owned facilities, she felt that tern
feet from time doors, etc. was appropriate.
Mr, l litrikostas asked if he could throw out a suggestion. He didn't think
they were going to complete this revision tonight, it was his experience
that it would need fine tuning. He suggested that they might find out that
and one half feet from this building works for this building because they
took every department individually and every restaurant individually. They
would work at this and to give everybody their fair share.
Mr. Ball felt that that was why they should use the variance, He felt that
the regulation was good time way it read. Let people come in front of them
to discuss any hardships.
y
I
