i
t
i
I
example if you have rainwater that gets filtered through an area where
there is decaying pine needles. You are going end up creating an acid at
the surface, which will make it's way down. It will strip all of your metals
off of your soil. They could still end up with a high pal in your groundwater
basically because of what the water was traveling through* There are high
pH problems on the cape because they have problems with that Duffer
especially through your drinking water systems. They have buffering
solutions, which is the potassium hydroxide to buffer the low pH of the
water. That weight wreaks havoc with the distribution system because
you have iron and copper pipes in your house; That creates the ring. That
malachite is copper oxide and stripping the copper off of your pipes. That
is the green stuff you see dripping in your tubs and sinks. That is because
you have low pH water. If you don't buffer that it strips the metals from
the pipes. so it is natural.
Mr. Santo asked if there was any more discussion items or old Business.
A. Proposals for Mowing the Landfill
Ms. Grady asked about the status of the bids on the mowing of the landfill.
Mr. Harrington responded than IVIS. Warden had not heard back from any of
the contractors. she had spoken to several places about the mowing.
Nis. Warden added that she called everybody she could think of. All the big
companies agreed that they would send therm something.
Mr. Harrington added that she actually had positive responses over the
phone. There were no written proposals at the moment.
Ms. Grady asked what they had spoken' about with Joyce Mason that time,.
It was a big-ticket item on the budget.
Mr. Santos asked if it was mowing.
Ms, Grady wasn't sure if it was mowing, she thought it was monitoring.
Mr. Harrington stated that it was the landfill monitoring. They hadn't
received an actual proposal.
IVIS. Grady continued by stating that it was for next year and what the
price was going to be. It included mowing and felt that it had to go out to
bid. It would be a good idea to go out to laid.
1
