}
Mr. Santos stated that he continued to be opposed to this request.
Ms. Grady seconded the notion again. Motion passed. Mr. Santos was opposed.
6. Checker's—Mobile Food Truck .
Mr. Harrington began by stating that a gentleman came to the window this afternoon
requesting a mobile food permit. He was going to selling hot dogs. He has a state
hawkers and peddlers license. He schooled him on the finer objects ofthe
regulations regarding hot clogs and also the ability for hire to perform his duties in
town with a mobile food truck. He still needed to have a BOH permit. He figured he
would let the board know that he had requested this because the board had had
another hot dog person ask to be in one permanent location before. But, this was
tow-behind mobile unit. It did have hot water and all of the proper saniti ers. It was
actually a nice little set up. It wasn't brand new. It was more of a conversion. But, it
did have the ability to heat, steam and boil hot dogs and sausage. He was also in
touch with the state, the DPH, with Priscilla Neves, who was the head of the food
and drug section of the IDPH. He had ServSaf . His daughter was taking ServSafe.
But, it was not a requirement for hotdogs because of the nitrate levels.
Mr. Ball didn't have a problem with this request.
i Mr. Harrington stated that this was really a decent set up. The reason why they had
declined it before was because he was looking to set up in one permanent location. I
they were going to do that they night as well have met with all of the sections of the
code.
Ms. Grady asked if this was a type of canteen that would go from work slot to work
slot.
Mr. Harrington stated that he had the right to do that. But, he was only going to do
hot dogs. He wasn't going to do any other sandiches just hot dogs. As far as he
was concerned he had the right to do other things on his menu because he had all of
the sanitation, hot and cold running water along with storage. If he changed his
menu he would let him know.
Ms. Grady asked if he was going to be on one comer one day and another day on
another corner.
Mr. Harrington stated that he had the right to do that. But, he was also going to tall
to the town because he realized that the town had contracts with other people at the
beaches. He would have to honor the contracts that the town had with other mobile
units. He would spear with the selectmen regarding where he could set up. But, as
far as Mr. Harrington was concerned he passed all of the food code portions of his
permit and inspection.
Ms. Grady asked for comments from the other board members.
13
