The Veterinary.Hospital has been cited for three violations: <br /> - l ashpee DPW citation for illegal dumping of medical wastes, which the veterinary Hospital has <br /> appealed and will be discussed' t the District court <br /> State regulation violation for st rag and -disposal of infectious and physically dangerous� s rr�edical <br /> and biological wastes, and disposal of sharps and blood products which were in bags that were not <br /> labeled <br /> - BOH citation for Public Nuisance that was created due to potential for harm because'e the sharps <br /> and blood products found on the roadside. <br /> Glenn-Santos asked Sharon Work to explain how the situation.occurred. Sharon-st <br /> steel that on a <br /> weekly tip to the Mashpee dump, her boss had loaded up the back of his truck, and-en route to the <br /> dump the bad fell off the truck <br /> and flew open, spilling the contents onto the side of the road. She <br /> stated that she knew that needles were to be handled eparateI-Y from the other trash; but did not <br /> realize blood products could not be included withit gul r trash. Sharon also expressed sur rise that <br /> any needles could have been found in the bag that had fallen off Me truck, as:they db separate those <br /> out from all other trash. Sharon and Lisa both agreed that they need further•clarification as to what <br /> ar are not considered medical waste products, because they wrar to be adhering td the State anal <br /> Town regulation's. Glen Harrington reported that he has had discussions with the staff at -the <br /> eterwnary Hospital as to what is and is not'considered medical wast , and plans to go to the State for <br /> further clarification and guidance on the subject. <br /> Glean Santos explained to Sharon work that thelah ee Transfer Station does <br /> p not accept <br /> corrwmerial waste. It is'stridtl r for the use of residential property owners. The Veterinary Hospital <br /> M ust hire a- om ercial waste hauler, such as' F1 or waste Management, to in ta11 ar dui p ter at the <br /> hospital and arrange for regular pickup at the eterinary Hospital for their waste materials_. <br /> Glenn Santos moved that the discussion of fines to the VeterinaryH' <br /> ktal be continued until futh <br /> p er <br /> clarification from the Mate as to What constitutes medical waste} -effective <br /> r , <br /> immediately, the Hospital make arrangements with a commercial waste hauler to di <br /> spore of their <br /> medical and other waste materials. Food <br /> Safety, has agreed to conduct an all day class at the Mashpee Public Library. The Board agreed t <br /> set the date for Wednesday, April 26th, from 8:30 AM to 4 PM.
