He stated that Cassella is interested in working with l shpee to <br /> see what they can offer the Town. cassella currently has a single stream recycling center in Auburn, <br /> and is proposing to have one in Rochester, as well. Mr. Robinson defined single stream recycling a <br /> aprogram where all recyclables are co-mingled into one truck or other container and thea separated <br /> at a single stream recycling center. <br /> A representative from Allied Waste Services of cape cod (Pete),-introduced himself to the Board. He <br /> asked for clarification from Glenn Santos as to the Mashpee regulations. The state is requiring that towns must offer recycling on a fiat rete, i.e.}weekly <br /> trash and recyclables pickup.offered at one price. <br /> Walter Benmark representing Cassella Waste services fintrodu ed himself to the Board. Mr. Bertmark <br /> brought up the fact that it is difficult for the haulers to offer recycling because there is not enough. <br /> space at corp mercial businesses a.nd condominium complexes to include more than one dumpster. <br /> Recycling would rewire several durnpsters available to separate trash from cardboard, plastics, etc. <br /> Mr. Benmark felt that single stream recycling is the answer to resolving the current recycling dilemma. <br /> Carl Cavossa reported that the cape cod Commission currently is forming a working group to <br /> consider the municipal solid waste disposal options for towns throbghout the cape. His feeling was <br /> that this group should also be considedrig cape-wide initiatives for the establishment f single strewn <br /> recycling centers.. Greg Smith is the contact at the cape cod Commission for ll ashpee. <br /> Glen Harrington commented that the BOH and the haulers will reed to identify incentivesand <br /> establish goals for a revised recycling program, to ensure that alternativer scenarios that are offered <br /> will measure up to what will be rewired. <br /> Glenn Santos thanked all the haulers and the members of the Recycling committee for attendingthe! <br /> . <br /> Meeting tonight, and stated that the group's next meeting would be announced well-in advance of the <br /> date. <br /> :00 P . The 13-acre parcel will be divided, with <br /> 519 acres at the back of the parcel separated from the front. On the back .1.g acres the plan calls <br /> for an I/A system slightly over boo gallons per day.' It breala down to a flexible storage warehous <br /> with 6 workers. The property is on town water. <br /> Glen Harrington stated that bne initial problem he had with this proposal was the potential for 1 <br /> people working in 17 separate co' n' tractor bas's, with 23,000 square feet to be left as open flex <br /> warehouse storage with just 6 workers. The plan allows only for -bathrooms on the first floor, and <br /> bathrooms on the second floor. Glen-felt that there should be one bathroom-for each bay. Glen <br /> Farrington will check with the building and plumbing inspectors to en ure that the potential addition of <br /> more bathrooms will still meet the plumbing code.
