2 <br /> Keeper: , The owner; person or group of individuals retained by the owner to possess;' <br /> harbor, control or have custody of a dogs) and who provides for care of the dogs, <br /> sheltered within the licensed kennel.'' <br /> Kennel Inspector: Shall mean the Natural Resources Officer, Animal Control Officer,. <br /> Animal Inspector, Agent of the Board or such other:qualified party as may be designated <br /> by the Board. ,; <br /> Shelter: An enclosed outdoor structure secured against unlawful entry which`:provides <br /> for the safety and..well-being of the ,dogs. It shall offer an adequate covering for, <br /> protectton against the elements and shall be kept warm and dry. Said structure shall also <br /> be of adequate "size for the comfort and well-being of the dog or`dogs enclosed within the <br /> shelter. :, <br /> Veterinary Hospital: - Shall not be considered a kennel unless it contains an area for the <br /> selling of dogs or for the boarding of dogs:for other than medical or surgical purposes, in ` <br /> which case it shall'make formal applicatiori to the Board for a kennel license. <br /> SECTION ll - Exemptions <br /> 1., For the purposes of this regulation, Canine ("Doggie"),Day Care is not deemed a <br /> kennel however; overnight boarding of more.than three (3) dogs shall constitute <br /> meeting the kennel definition. <br /> SECTION III- Kennel License Requirements <br /> 1. Any owner or keeper of more than three (3) dogs, 12 weeks of age or over, shall <br /> obtain a kennel license upon written application to the Board. <br /> 2. _-As of June, 1, 2007, all kennels 'shall comply with any applicable;-,zoning <br /> requirerrients., Application for a kennel shall require written approval from the <br /> Board and a special permit issued by the Zoning Board of Appeals. Once the <br /> special -permit has been granted and filed with the Registry of Deeds, the <br /> owner/operator shall register the kennel with the Board of Health within fourteen <br /> (14) days from the:filing date. <br /> 3. The kennel license shall specify the name of the owner, property owner, kennel <br /> and keeper(s); the location of the kennel and any special conditions which maybe <br /> imposed by the Zomng Board of Appeals and the Board." <br /> a. Proof of Vaccination: <br /> 1. All puppies less than twelve (12) :weeks of age shall, be <br /> administered the first distemper vaccination in the distemper <br /> series. <br /> 2. All puppies/dogs twelve (12) weeks or older shall be <br /> administered the rabies vaccination. <br /> 3. The owner of a puppy dog shall not be required to provide <br /> verification of vaccination to this section if such"owner provides <br /> _ a written statement from a veterinarian indicating that the dog of <br /> such 6wner should not be given such vaccination because of a ': <br />
