Preservation Policy - Jim Moroney: one of the things Ji'm has been trying
to do is to survey what the town situation is and then to determine what
is required and where we can go from dere. In that regard Joanne had asked
.Jim to put together a few thoughts relative hoer things should -be done and
d cumenting and controlling T4hat we have.
Jim' reported that basically, what we were trying to do is las able to have
anybody locate. anything.. A lot of the job has been-done already. For in-
stance, the inventory cards on the books. We actually have two sets of
cards, one by author, an the other by tide. Poo are so vi u. 3 there
are the books.
When oup et ad the boo.s, it gets little cloudy. For the most
g
part on documents them' elves - we have a card that will indicate what is in
the' collection. A lot of the time, on the document or in the container
there is a duplicate of this. What we need to have, is a "locator". which
is something that would be on both of these things which would make it
possible to locate the item.
Thave a
synopsis that comes at the very end o f thi s paper tht s ay
we need to know what 'it is, where it i and who gave i t, dorso r
What we need is a locator code.
Attached hereto these minutes is the proposed locator scheme which become
part of these minutes.
