Cemetery: Joe Connolly reported that he had been searching and re- <br /> searching, trying to gather information that would give a clear idea <br /> of where we warted to go with trying to persuade the town to take over <br /> some of the cemeteries that have been neglected, particularly those <br /> that we have no idea wh'o the owners are. During, the research, he had <br /> discovered that one of the cemeteries that we have been researching <br /> had already been taken over by the town* We have the information; <br /> the deed is in the assessor's office, and Denise will eventually get <br /> a copy of the deed to us. That is Cemetery #4 on our master list, <br /> the heirs of Phoebe Pocknett on Great Neck Road South, rear Punk.horn <br /> Point. <br /> Another cemetery, #10, the Jones Burial Ground on South Sandwich Road, <br /> Corner of S. Sandwich and Dain Street was deeded to the Torn in 1989. <br /> It is shown on the assessor's records as a cranberry bog. It is a <br /> cemetery which has no There is no identification of ex- <br /> actly where the cemetery 'is located. It is part of the land that was <br /> deeded. There are no markings, gust a great deal of underbrush. How- <br /> ever, the town owns it, and use can go forward and ask the town to do <br /> something about upgrading the area, to make it more visible, make it <br /> more attractive so that the townspeople can see there is an ancient <br /> cemetery there.
