HISTORICAL OMMI ION
jUNE 1. , 1997
EE TWO
V NEW BUSINESS: (Continued)
E. John Kenneth Keelon, Joanne and Ken Porter, workshop.
F. Mary Lopez visited the Archives to do some land research.
.bel. Lavant: The H. C. has a tape recorded by Mabel Lavant (1956) .
VI TIE :
- . 1997- Goals and Projects.
B. C=puter Book: Windows '95 for Dimmi es: Book for '96 Basic System.
C. Letter of resignation from Joe Connolly forwarded to the Board of
Selectmen,
D. - Jin Moroney suggested that if Mashpee established something similar to
the Freedom Trail B stop has the Freedom Trail.. If they 1 ad something
like the Freedom Trail, a series of things with signs indicating various
historical sights, what a great thing it would be.
Jim also brought up the fact that at the Presentation of Awards Dinner,
Alin Tanneyhill suggested that something be done about the Ock ay Chapel.
The Chamber of Commerce lead made some sort of comment on it. Jinn assumed
they were making a commitment, but perhaps they were not.
Jim alsoP resented the. question, that is in. the wooded areas of Mahpeety
Jim also brought up the issue that the Mashpee pond areas were going to be
dredged.
Joanne explained that this was a temporary dredging. They plan to block
it off, so that they can rebuild the Flume.
Rosemary suggested that if we should get involved in all of these things,
we will. need more researchers. Otherwise., -we are jut back in oral
history.
Joanne suggested that if something like that were agreeable, one of the
commissioners can take it on as a project. Joanne explained that there
would be a great deal of leg-work invrolved before we all agreed to take
n a project like that.
Joanne suggested that perhaps the H. C. could develop a map with markers,
and people could drive arond town and follow the historical sites. Some-
one would have to detail it. we would have to look at it In greater detail
before we could undertake it as a group.
Jim also suggested the idea of associate members. If we cannot do more
because we do not have enough Lands, do we not need more help?
