MRoEY <br /> ANN WHITLOW <br /> I1 <br /> MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING: <br /> The minutes of the July 23, 1997 meeting, corrections: First paragraph: <br /> Spelling of "Paul iambarro"; corrected t "Paul iambarba". <br /> 111 REPORTS: <br /> Treasurer's Report: The treasurer's report is up to date. The Historical <br /> Commission has spent approximately $800-00 thus far, related to the, exhibit; <br /> pictures reprinted, the framing completed, donations, copies prepared at <br /> Cape Reprographics. That should baring the balance down to approximately <br /> , 0. 0. As Joanne indicated last month, if there were any priority expen- <br /> , <br /> ditures the commissioners wanted to consider, they should prepare a list for <br /> Joanne to review so that they could be discussed. <br /> Open House: Aran Whitlow reported on the open house at Popone s sett. Ann <br /> felt .the open -house had been a rousing success. There were over 110 guests <br /> who signed in, but Ann felt there were many guests who did not sign in; <br /> Ann. felt comfortable with a count of 10. Many people stopped bythe Archives <br /> to view the display since the open house. Aran stated that she was proud of <br /> Joanne; all of the-work she had pint into the exhibit. It was touching to <br /> see the reaction of the guests to the memories of Poponessett. All comments <br /> were favorable, nn scored it as- a huge success* <br /> Joanne added that the exhibit will be open for viewing through the fourth of <br /> October. <br /> Joanne suggested that a press release be put into THE ENTERPRISE and THE <br /> MESSENGER indicating the hours that the Archives were open to the public, <br /> and the fact that the exhibit will be open for viewing through the fourth of <br /> October. <br /> Iv OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Donation and legal advice, Joanne will follow up on this item this month, <br /> and she will have a report for the October meeting. <br /> p <br /> Membership renewals. <br /> Joanne explained that they had had some discussion <br /> relative to the renewals at a previous meeting, we have Bay State Historical <br /> Beane membership ri and National Museum of the American Indian. The question <br /> was whether they wanted to renew these membership Joanne suggested the <br /> members look them over and consider this question for the next meeting, <br /> whether it wa .wortwhile to renew the memberships. next month it can be <br /> put to a vote. <br />
