C ON'1V o"�rY <br /> �;' m (/ � °moo•.,i�� <br /> f. r ' Town of Mashpee <br /> • � � 0o-, <br /> Shellfish Commission 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> y ! , <br /> Mashpee, MA 02649 <br /> 9��'"��.„.•.C''`CSP o- <br /> MINUTES 4F MEETING 5-10-16 <br /> Attendance: William Holmes, Brian Everett, and Richard York <br /> Public: Darrel Christensen, Ashley Harrigan, Tom Norton, Michael Ronhock and <br /> Tom Smith <br /> Convene Meeting: 7:00 PM <br /> Public Comment: Mashpee resident Tom Norton wanted to get a new <br /> Commercial Shellfishing Permit in March, but the Shellfish Regulations only allow <br /> for renewal of Commercial permits in March (new Commercial permits are limited <br /> to April). Motion by York to recommend that Tom Norton be issued a <br /> Commercial Shellfish Permit and seconded by Marques. Vote: Unanimous in <br /> favor. <br /> Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve minutes from 4'12-16 was made by York <br /> and seconded by Everett. Vote: unanimous for approval <br /> Shellfish Constable's Report: <br /> The new Department of Natural Resources and Director position was <br /> approved at the May Town meeting. Final approval is needed from the <br /> Massachusetts Attorney General before the new DNR is created. <br /> Waquoit Bay opened for Shellfishing May 1 (Falmouth and Mashpee <br /> sides). Boat yards and marinas were closed to sheilfishing by the DMF as usual <br /> May 1 to October 31. <br /> The Conservation Commission approved the new oyster bed restoration <br /> project in Shoestring Bay and the reconstruction of the Town dock floats at Little <br /> River with floating shellfish seed upwellers under the decking. The <br /> Harbormaster and new ShellfishNVater Quality Technician have not been hired <br /> yet. <br /> New Business: Shellfish Aquaculture Grant Applications <br /> Michael Ronhock presented his applicaiton for a new Aquaculture License <br /> (grant) in Great River to grow oysters. <br /> Tom Smith discussed the application that he is preparing for a new <br /> Shellfish Aquaculture area in upper Great River and floating upweller at his dock <br /> in Great River at 226 Monomoscoy Road. <br /> Old Business <br /> Propagation 2016: Crab trapping continuing. <br />
