C ON'1V o"�rY �;' m (/ � °moo•.,i�� f. r ' Town of Mashpee • � � 0o-, Shellfish Commission 16 Great Neck Road North y ! , Mashpee, MA 02649 9��'"��.„.•.C''`CSP o- MINUTES 4F MEETING 5-10-16 Attendance: William Holmes, Brian Everett, and Richard York Public: Darrel Christensen, Ashley Harrigan, Tom Norton, Michael Ronhock and Tom Smith Convene Meeting: 7:00 PM Public Comment: Mashpee resident Tom Norton wanted to get a new Commercial Shellfishing Permit in March, but the Shellfish Regulations only allow for renewal of Commercial permits in March (new Commercial permits are limited to April). Motion by York to recommend that Tom Norton be issued a Commercial Shellfish Permit and seconded by Marques. Vote: Unanimous in favor. Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve minutes from 4'12-16 was made by York and seconded by Everett. Vote: unanimous for approval Shellfish Constable's Report: The new Department of Natural Resources and Director position was approved at the May Town meeting. Final approval is needed from the Massachusetts Attorney General before the new DNR is created. Waquoit Bay opened for Shellfishing May 1 (Falmouth and Mashpee sides). Boat yards and marinas were closed to sheilfishing by the DMF as usual May 1 to October 31. The Conservation Commission approved the new oyster bed restoration project in Shoestring Bay and the reconstruction of the Town dock floats at Little River with floating shellfish seed upwellers under the decking. The Harbormaster and new ShellfishNVater Quality Technician have not been hired yet. New Business: Shellfish Aquaculture Grant Applications Michael Ronhock presented his applicaiton for a new Aquaculture License (grant) in Great River to grow oysters. Tom Smith discussed the application that he is preparing for a new Shellfish Aquaculture area in upper Great River and floating upweller at his dock in Great River at 226 Monomoscoy Road. Old Business Propagation 2016: Crab trapping continuing.
