NEW BUSINESS:
Maintenance position--received 63 applications. Two 667 residents(Joan Audette and John
Wilcox) reviewed and sat in on interviews. Eleven candidates were interviewed.. Carolyn Turner
was hired effective March 1, 1996 at the Department of Labor&Industries approved rate of
$12.33 per hour, eighteen hours per week, no health or retirement benefits; sick leave, annual
leave, etc.,accrued pre-rated.
Ms.Reed explained the Alternative Dousing Voucher Program AHVP which establish a rental
assistance program for non-elderly persons with disabilities, which will be an"alternative" or
other option other than senior housing for non-elderly, disabled individuals. Currently there i
approximately 100 individuals on the Mashpee Mousing Authority 667-1 wait fist. Of this 100,
thirty-two are non-elderly, disabled applicants.A notion was made by Ms.Rudd and seconded by
Mrs. Brooks to apply to EOCD for funding for the Alternative Housing VoucherProgram. The
notion was adopted.
A motion was made by Ms. Rudd and seconded by Mrs. Brooks to approve attendance at the
NAHRO Spring Conference at Seacrest for one commissioner and the Director. The motion was
adopted.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
The Executive Director attended the Selectmen's meeting to address our request for snow
removal at housing authority owned sites. Selectmen were very supportive of our request and
voted unanimously to approve snow removal services at the elderly and fam ly sites.
In response to Ms.Rudd's questions regarding appropriate line item charges for unit turnover,
Torn Joy advised that if the authority projects turnovers, the costs is generally charged to the
Contract Costs lie item. If there is not projection or if more turnovers 000ur,charges can be
applied to'the Extraordinary Maintenance category.
The temporary maintenance position was for twenty fours per week as opposed to the eighteen
hour per week permanent position),until such time as the permanent position was filled a
approved by Board vote. Ms. Reed advised the Board that this issue may have to be addressed
via the budget revision process since we had to pay the going DL&I rate for the position whether
it be temporary, seasonal, etc. Therefore,we had to pay the difference between the$10.00 per
hour rate paid the temporary person and the$12.33 per hour rate approved by
DL&I.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned by
concensus at 7:56 p.m.
Respee y submitted,
Carolyn , Reed, ecretary
Executive Director
